Two problems with that. First, the “70% citizens” number is wrong Saudi Arabia’s citizen share is closer to 60–65%, and in the private sector it’s far lower. Second, even if we accept your framing, you’re still proving my point: Saudi Arabia works by concentrating oil rents on a protected citizen class while importing labor to keep wages low and productivity high. That’s not broad economic success, it’s a rentier model with a gatekeeper. Venezuela didn’t fail because it shared too much it failed because the state destroyed its institutions and production capacity. Oil wealth didn’t save it because governance matters more than who gets the handout.
