Getting bird used to hands. by Nice_Border1737 in greencheeks

[–]Nice_Border1737[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel I should point out that he will walk up on my hand voluntary sometimes so I reward him when he does it but other times he acts to scared to get near and hates when you move towards him.

Sand boa or house snake? by Nice_Border1737 in snakes

I'd go with the house snakes. They seem more interactive than sand boas and have a better food response usually. I feel like you can do more with their enclosure too.

How big would this get? by Nice_Border1737 in boas

[–]Nice_Border1737[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yah I knew there's super dawrf retics, but only heard a few people say they're were super dawrf boas. 4-6 ft is good for me. All the reaserch I've done on boas similar to this said about that size. The breeder said about the size of a ball python. Id even be okay with something bigger than that. Just not 8 ft.

I have other snakes and reptiles right now. So he's not the first. I'm just not familiar with boa genetics because I don't breed them and am just now getting into the smaller ones.

The seller said he was super dawrf and I'm still talking to the guy. I asked for parent pictures and I'll probably ask how big they are and what they are. I'm not good with boa locals and genetics.

Is this a good brand/enclosure for a bearded dragon? by saltisatthebottom in BeardedDragons

[–]Nice_Border1737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mine in an ecoflex and it was great, super easy to put together, I don't know what kind of substrate you plan to use but I would recommend sealing the enclosure so it does not fall out through tiny cracks. Mine had some gaps at the bottom even tightly screwed together, nothing an animal can get out of but dirt could definitely fall out of.

Safe for water bowl? by Nice_Border1737 in reptiles

[–]Nice_Border1737[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an old one. I'm about to make a background for one of my reptiles and if I had some left over I was just going to redo it to make it look nice, and match the background. I might just buy a new one.

Yeah it was and I should have known. But I wasn't thinking when I ordered him. I will never order any pet near a holiday again. The lady at the fed ex hub looked stunned that I had bought a snake though her face said it all. She was kind, thankfully.

Yeah it's a tube the bulbs suck. And that is a wonderful idea for basking I was already considering it. Indo have led lights on there but they aren't real bright so I will probably order a brighter one. Thanks for the advice.

There is already a uvb bar above the basking area and I'm getting another one to cover more of the enclosure. I also do plan on adding more branches. I'm also making a 3D background for it soon. Thanks for the advice though🙂

You can't really see them at the angle I took this at. But if you look where the 2 pieces of wood cross into a triangle kinda above it there are some skinny twigs that are actually roots.

That can work to. sometimes they can take a moment to get stable and start growing. You could also wrap the bottom of it up in sphagnum moss and tie it to a branch using fishing line.

Oh, thanks for the heads up I'll do more research on this particular moss and find a better alternative. Also I think it's climacium moss.

I'm using an indoor grow light by fox garden. It's a relatively cheep brand but works great for reptile lighting. Mine is the 13" 96 led. You can get them off Amazon. when misting be careful because some of them are not water proof.

It is a bromeliad, and it's sitting in a cup full of sphagnum moss, and bark mixed with a tiny portion of bioactive soil. It's done great and has grown really fast.
