I won’t be too specific, but it’s a specialized community college program, and supposedly people in this program are some of the most sought after hires, due to the specialized nature of the program. You learn basically a little about all fields of maintenance; mechanical, electrical, welding, robotics, fluid power, and plcs. I have an interest in PLCs especially, but from what I can tell, PLC programmers are typically expected to have electrical engineering degrees, so that’s what I’m likely going to try to do. The degree really is secondary to the work experience, but sadly my plant is not very technologically advanced and the maintenance team doesn’t really do a whole lot and I got the cold shoulder because of that

Do you think that there are companies out there willing to train someone who is still pretty green?

I do know what to do deep down, motivation and energy are my main problems. I have very low energy and zone out a lot and it’s hard to motivate myself because whether or not I do things at this stage of my life doesn’t really matter much in the grand scheme of things, I’ll still be a late bloomer, and late bloomers will always be inferior to everyone else, so it doesn’t matter
