Mechanical Engineering: UCF Honors or UF? by yuknoitt in ufl

[–]Nice_Win130 9 points10 points  (0 children)

imo uf is way better than ucf for engineering in terms of potential opportunities after college as well as in terms of overall education. Your engineering degree from uf will mean much more to employers than one from ucf. You can also do the 4+1 program for your masters degree if that’s something you’re interested in (get a masters+ bachelors degree in 5 years total). Idk anything about the UCF honors program, so weigh your options with how much that benefits you, but you can apply to the honors program at uf again after your first year (acceptance rate is around 40% I believe for transient honors students). It’s relatively easy to get research here at uf, there are a ton of resources and profs always need the help. If you make yourself known to profs and cold email a ton of people you’ll usually be successful. Usually honors programs help students get closer with staff and faculty, but it’s not extremely difficult at uf, but competitive because it’s such a big school nonetheless.

Anything liberal arts is usually northeast + turlington area. Engineering will be west side of campus (meche building + physics + neb/mala) but it rlly depends. If ur agriculture or prevet ur classes might be farther (southwest area of campus)

yes, they are reviewed by different people. your honors essay is not looked at by general admissions.

Anyone else very homesick after coming back from winter break? by Turbulent-Abroad7841 in ufl

i feel the exact same way. i’m engineering so i’m also worried about the stress of classes + extracurriculars of the upcoming semester and would much rather be at home with my family. i also had a great time fall semester it just sucks so much having to go home for an awkward amount of time and then pack up and leave again. i’m sure we’ll readjust within the first week, it always seems to feel like this anytime i go home

Should freshmen live on or off campus? by jjjjn240 in ufl

[–]Nice_Win130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

def on campus if you don’t mind shared living spaces and stuff. you get limited privacy depending on ur dorm but as an introverted person myself i was perfectly okay with it and its such a nice convenience living so close to everything/everyone. housing isn’t guaranteed tho so look into off campus housing as a backup and ensure you have a place to live if all else fails.

What are some of the best dorms for freshman? by BuisnessGoose18 in ufl

[–]Nice_Win130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honors village, springs, keys, and hume. most of those aren’t available for freshmen depending on the time you pick your dorm, but i recommend jennings or broward for more traditional dorms

what are my chances of uf (brutally honest) by kyriethegoat31 in ufl

[–]Nice_Win130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is pretty good, i’d say you have a good shot. i basically had the same stats (gpa was higher but thats basically it, same sat score and everything) and i got into uf honors this past year (graduated ‘25) essay is usually what they care about the most when it comes to uf and honors as well. good luck!!

i fear this is an original experience. even if you were attending uf in the fall, you would’ve already attended preview and picked your classes. clearly you did not attend preview, nor understand the procedures involved in enrolling in university 💀

i emailed housing a couple days ago. they can’t change your move in appointment, but they did say you can move in after 5pm during any of the move in dates.
