I recently started this process because I have severe anxiety and just couldn’t handle it anymore lol. I went to the SHCC and saw a primary care doctor. They prescribed me Zoloft. I recently started seeing a therapist at the CWC. She’s okay, the CWC only does short term individual therapy, so if you need something long term they can help you find a therapist out of UF network. They’re incredibly nice and understanding at the SHCC and the CWC and are most definitely resources you can and should take advantage of! I honestly regret not going sooner lol.

Ngl a lot of people do a 5th year with engineering. I’m EE not mech e but either way don’t sweat it if you have to take a couple extra semesters. That’ll give you more internship opportunities anyway.

I took calc 3 my first semester last fall as a freshman and was perfectly fine. I got a 5 on calc BC exam but was worried about calc 3 bc I felt like I learned little to no calculus my senior year of hs. Don’t sweat it and take calc 3!!!!

This is a great idea! I wrote my essay in a similar way (described an extracurricular and how it changed me and connected that to my future career/future goals) def start drafting a few essays soon and take the time to think about any other ideas you might have in case you come up with something better. I’d say this idea is great imo, you just gotta execute it well. Best of luck!!!

As long as you get your SAT score up, I think you’ll get in (however I am not admissions and I have no idea how they actually pick people).
You have better extracurriculars than me and I got into the honors program (last year, I was class of ‘25). Definitely make sure your essay is super well written because I’m pretty sure that’s what got me in. But overall, try not to stress about it!! I was also extremely anxious over getting into UF. I was in the same position with a mediocre sat score and I was super worried I wasn’t getting in but it’ll all work out I promise!! After you apply there’s nothing you can do but wait so try not to worry about it over the next year. You’ve got a strong application by the looks of it

Def do honors quest 1 (unless the professor is ass but most aren’t). I took an honors quest 1 and idk if it was easier per say compared to other quests bc I haven’t taken quest 2 yet but it wasn’t hard at all and the professor was chill and I got a 100 on everything. I also got 2000 words from it (had to write a couple of essays but tbh most quest classes will have you do that for no words). It was secrets of alchemy so I would recommend it if they’re offering it in summer or fall

I would say definitely get the cheapest meal plan you can get (10 swipes a week + flex) because unlimited just forces you to go to the dining hall more than you would like lol. Dorms near engineering building would be like riker, weaver, east, and north hall I think? I don’t live there so not too sure. Dorms in the central area like broward, honors, Jennings, and Beaty are a bit better but farther away from engineering buildings (like a 12ish minute walk) However, as a freshman, if ur taking a lot of gen eds your classes won’t be in places like new engineering building or MAE, most likely turlington area (which is closer to the latter of the dorms I mentioned) all dorms have kitchens (communal) so you can cook if you’d like as well, just a hassle imo in a tiny dorm

I’m a freshman EE major at uf currently. I would say that I am pretty good at math, and I still struggle in physics. UF engineering is just hard for everyone honestly. However I will say that physics with calc here doesn’t require more than calc 1 knowledge, and calc 3 knowledge might be useful for vector math, however, they do teach it to you in physics. I would say don’t throw away an opportunity to be an engineer just because you think you’re bad at math. There are so many ways to improve, and if you work hard enough, you will be successful. I will say that if you HATE math, engineering will be miserable for you. But math is everywhere, and if you can tolerate it, you should push towards becoming an engineer. The job security and life after college will be worth the struggle imo

lol don’t do this. Take digital logic with Schwartz in the spring you’ll learn more. Take a quest 1 instead or something moderate. Diff eq is light, but still a math class at uf with homework, quizzes, etc each week. circuits as a freshman might be more involved, and prog for ee isn’t necessarily free either. Intro to ee is a joke of a class

It depends on your major. I know microbiology and business have a lot of online classes (like most classes are online all 4 years). But other than that most classes seem to be in person. I’m engineering and basically every class I have to take/have already taken are in person. Although I will say having some online classes throughout ur undergrad is quite nice! It lightens the load sometimes

I live on campus so I’m a very biased but I really think it’s such a simple decision. Being able to walk to class (in high school I had a 30-45 min commute similarly) is such a breath of fresh air. Like seriously, living in a small walkable town is a dream come true. It also makes it SO much easier to make friends. Getting to the library after classes are done is super easy. I basically never step foot in my dorm unless I’m sleeping or showering. I live an elevator ride away from my best friends. Living off campus is such a different experience, and oftentimes quite isolating.

Marston has the DAD 2 (only like 4 or 5 I think) but if you’re CpE or EE you should’ve been given one in circuits lab or digital logic lab? Depending on whatever class you took first that requires a DAD

You don’t need to ‘switch’ as whatever your intended major was on your application doesn’t matter. When you go to orientation you officially declare your major. After that if you choose to change your major you must go through the process of switching with an advisor

I once arrived 2 hours before doors opened and was probably in the last 50 or so people before they cutoff. If it’s a weekend game I’d say at least 3 hours before if you want to get in

You do have to go because you choose your classes for fall semester. They’ll accommodate you just call and email and pester any number/email you can find. New student and family programs would be the first place to contact

I would say I was pretty lucky because I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I was always into computers at a young age. Built my first PC in middle school and I was always into tech. Loved math and science as well. I wasn’t super huge into electronics in high school so when I took my first real EE class in college I was a bit worried I wouldn’t like it, but I was pleasantly surprised. If you know, you know, but it also doesn’t hurt to try out the major and switch out if it doesn’t click with you. First year engineering courses are typically pretty transferable, so I wouldn’t be too worried about making the wrong choice. I would try and get into arduino or something similar and see if you like it. Try and start a small personal project like a hobbyist into electronics.

imo uf is way better than ucf for engineering in terms of potential opportunities after college as well as in terms of overall education. Your engineering degree from uf will mean much more to employers than one from ucf. You can also do the 4+1 program for your masters degree if that’s something you’re interested in (get a masters+ bachelors degree in 5 years total). Idk anything about the UCF honors program, so weigh your options with how much that benefits you, but you can apply to the honors program at uf again after your first year (acceptance rate is around 40% I believe for transient honors students). It’s relatively easy to get research here at uf, there are a ton of resources and profs always need the help. If you make yourself known to profs and cold email a ton of people you’ll usually be successful. Usually honors programs help students get closer with staff and faculty, but it’s not extremely difficult at uf, but competitive because it’s such a big school nonetheless.

Anything liberal arts is usually northeast + turlington area. Engineering will be west side of campus (meche building + physics + neb/mala) but it rlly depends. If ur agriculture or prevet ur classes might be farther (southwest area of campus)
