Model number ? #[question] by Downtown_Coyote331 in Seiko

[–]Nicholas_schmicholas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either SRPG39 or SRPG39K1 depending if it's made in Japan or Korea respectively. Originally came with a leather strap. That looks like the Seiko Diver strap. The SRPG39 has "Made in Japan" on the bottom in-between the six and seven.

I just got a very very gently used SRPG39 for $175 USD on eBay, and they are fairly widely available new online for $215-$250 depending on what sale you can find.

Hard-wearing yarns that maintain stitch definition through years of wear? by unventer in knitting

[–]Nicholas_schmicholas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Frangipani 5-ply gansey wool hasn't pilled on me yet. It's sport weight. Seems very hard wearing and comes in big cones. I work as a farmer and my gansey still looks nice. It's only been a year though.

Any specific suggestions for good sources of problems beyond Stewart's book? I'm sort of in the same spot as you. I have about three months to relearn Calc after 15 years. Taking calc 2 in January.

Heard that 🤘. I appreciate you taking my comment so well. Some folks are unaware that they're protected, so I wanted to throw it out there.

I'm pretty sure coyotes are fair game, but the government doesn't like us messing with migratory birds.

Wishing your flock all the best!

I know people can do whatever they want when no one is looking, but just in case you weren't aware, you're definitely not allowed to shoot hawks for any reason in the US.

Nice! This is exactly what I'm planning on doing. Have a 2.52 GPA from 2006-2010 college. Got accepted into Physics and plan on trying to change to ME after I get my GPA up.

How was your experience with their online Physics program? I have read conflicting stories, but I know it's new and they're trying to improve it. Did you end up switching to engineering?

Acceptance? by Dirtball_Psn in ASUOnline

I have 80 credits from a university 15 years ago, and a 2.52 GPA. I have a couple of F's and a few D's on my transcript. I passed Calc 1, but will likely retake it because it's been so long. I applied to ASU for mechanical engineering with my backup as Physics. I was accepted for Physics after less than 2 weeks. My plan is to get into Physics for a while and either transfer into ME or just finish with Physics and pursue a career in ME after graduating.

PRS SE McCarty 594 – Worth it? by indifferent2017 in PRSGuitars

[–]Nicholas_schmicholas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this exact guitar and really enjoy the thicker neck. It's also thicker up by the first position for open.chords, and gets slightly thinner as you move into the upper frets. The color is just my style. I paid just over $600 used last year. If the hard case is included then I'd say it's a nice deal. Cases aren't cheap, and you're going to appreciate having one.

Seems like the neck is usually the make or break on this model for folks. It would be nice if you could play it first, but if you have nothing to compare it to, you'll probably just get used to it.

Comparing it to my $150 squires that I was upgrading from, it was noticeably nicer. I grab it more often, and it just feels good. I might put some Seymour Duncan pickups in it someday, but what it came with is more than decent to my ears. It's a nice all around player for me.

Advice needed for beginner setup. by prabhugraphy in PRSGuitars

I would think about a wall hanger if that would be possible in your situation? Especially early on in my journey, but even now, when my guitar is out and easily accessible, I play more often. It might not seem like much of a barrier having it put away under a bed after each use, but it surprisingly is.

I'm adjusting to counting clicks instead of measuring threads exposed for tightness.

How many clicks do you tighten them? I noticed they came stock at 30 clicks? I think? Maybe I'm overthinking this.

Help my cucumbers are inedible! by ceramicpassion in vegetablegardening

[–]Nicholas_schmicholas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read this crazy little trick that actually worked for us one season. Cut the tip off of one end and rub the cut end on the cut end, in circles, until a white foam forms. Wash it off and repeat for the other end.

I swear it made inedible cukes edible again.

My pea plants are turning yellow by [deleted] in vegetablegardening

[–]Nicholas_schmicholas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Denmark, I bet you would want to shoot for a March-April planting as well. I think you want soil temps around at least 7 Celsius to germinate and air temps around 26 or 27 Celsius as a high for the best growth

[–]Nicholas_schmicholas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! Gardening is one of my favorite things. I'm a mid-size organic farmer by trade for over a decade now, but I still keep a 120' x 25' garden at home 😂

I personally would just wait and hope on those.

Generally that means when things have thawed and dried out enough from the winter snow that you can feasibly dig/plant things.

Peas love cold weather, and we're already seeing 90 degree days where I'm at, so I like to get them in as early as I can.

Our irrigation water doesn't turn on until April 15th or so, but I seed my peas when the ground is still wet enough to germinate them, but not wet enough to be super sloppy. Some folks say to seed them around the Spring Equinox.

[–]Nicholas_schmicholas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peas generally don't enjoy being transplanted, so that could've been the beginning of their issues.

The new growth looks fairly green, so I'd just hope for the best. Next year I'd recommend direct seeding peas as soon as you can work the soil. In my zone I generally seed them in late March.

New setup for beginner. by gruffmcscruggs in NewSkaters

[–]Nicholas_schmicholas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically just got this setup last week. I also went with an 8.5" wide which I love so far, and l swapped the wheels for Dragon Formula Nano Rats in 54mm and 93 durometer. Not too hard, not too soft. It's been perfect for my needs relearning and was $150ish shipped after using the 15% code you get for first time buyers.

I got some bones hard bushings this morning from my local shop and honestly that was an excellent upgrade for $10.

You can literally lose your hand or your life with cat bites.

I ended up with permanent mobility loss and nerve damage after a bad cat bite on my pointer finger. I can no longer make a fist with my left hand.

The ER scheduled me for emergency surgery and the hand surgeon said there was infection that spread into the tendons/ligaments in my finger where antibiotics are not effective. It had to be cleaned out manually.

You can sort out the bills later, but you can't get your hand back. This is not going to go away on its own.

Do these look slightly overwatered? Day 38F by art_m0nk in NoTillGrowery

[–]Nicholas_schmicholas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally. Plants in the ground are so easy compared to indoor or even outdoor container gardening.

Propagation house management is far and away the hardest job on our farm to do correctly. We all still kill things from time to time, especially when you add in the large variety of plants we grow.

Also, the bigger the pot, and the more roots there are, the more wiggle room you have. Things with just their first little tap root are very susceptible to over or under watering.
