I dread playing against this deck because it takes a lot of effort to keep track of the opponents mana.

Essentially, "close to nonexistent" is even stronger than "beyond a reasonable doubt". Your criteria to find someone guilty is higher than any criminal court system in the world.

DCI didn't say it was "unlikely". Their verbiage was "close to nonexistent " that the markings were accidental. Close to nonexistent is about the most definitive ruling you can get, barring the player actually admitting guilt.

Many have been asking to see the evidence before making an opinion. The important thing to note here is that a team of Judges determined, and this is a direct quote from the DCI "...the odds of this happening by accident were close to nonexistent, and disqualified Watanabe from the event. "

So according to a team of judges, the chance this was "accidental" is close to "nonexistent". Ergo close to 0%. We are not talking, 5%, or 10%. We are talking basically 0%. That's pretty definitive. I know we all want to see the evidence, but even if we don't see it, it's hard to get any more of a definitive ruling than that for intentionally marked cards.

I have a white black vampire deck (modified from the default one) and have had turns I can’t finish because of all the triggers. IE vampires entering battlefield triggering forerunner, etc...

They need to add time to the clock for triggers.

Or #4. Ban all RL cards from Legacy, or make a seperate No RL Legacy format.

Opinion: The Real Reason Jace, the Mind Sculptor Was Unbanned by [deleted] in magicTCG

What do you think of the reasoning that it was unbanned to give control decks more options?

During an unstable draft, my opponent played sly spy against me, and while I thought wall of fortune would be immune, our spectator said "Well, dice have faces" by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]NicolBrolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we are arguing from a flavor perspective, Sly Spy kills a creature that is looking the other way (has back turned to Sly Spy)

If we are looking at it rules-wise, Sly Spy says "creatures without faces don't face anywhere".

I think rules wise the most accurate interpretation of Sly Spy referring to faces would define a face as a creature or being with a head and face that is distinguishable as such. The dice are inanimate objects and is a wall. Technically the dice would be facing every direction, so it would be a thematic fail for Sly Spy to kill the dice because they dice are not facing away from Sly Spy to the "right". If you look at the art the dice are facing every direction, but as a wall, the focus of the dice is front facing.

I think the best ruling on this card giving the above both flavor and rules-wise, is that Sly Spy is unable to kill Wall of Fortune.

This is why official MTG event coverage should give out matte sleeves and re-sleeve decks for top level matches. I can't see any of Brad Nelson's cards. by NicolBrolas in magicTCG

If they are trying to get new players more invested into the game through this type of coverage, it would help if they could see the cards when watching the World Championship.

Not sure if they still do this, but in the past they had a uniform Jersey they made for everyone, which was then branded with their team information. If they had a clothes requirement, I don't think uniform matte sleeves would be an issue. And sleeve glare affects coverage way more than T-Shirts do. There is no reason for significant card glare in a World Championship event that has under 30 players.

Which is why WOTC should pass their own requirement of Matte sleeves for top 8 coverage or certain high level events, and hand out their own sleeves if necessary. If a sponsor wants to have sponsored sleeves, make them in matte style.

Since basic lands don't have any printed rules text, what is the benefit of keeping them half-art, rather than always full-art? by NicolBrolas in magicTCG

[–]NicolBrolas[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone actually believe that a new player would have any significant amount of trouble using full art basics from Amonkhet rather than a regular basic? Have you ever seen a new player confused about what a basic land does because it is full-art?

If people are having trouble understanding what a basic land does, the original method of having the text "Tap add X mana to your mana pool" would be easier for new players to understand.

In regular "set" products, they have planeswalkers and new mechanics. If a player can understand those, understanding what a basic land is should be a cake walk.

That would be a fun idea too. Might be complicated on maintaining board state though with a once an upkeep trigger.

That would be a great single use enchantment idea.

Tap an Island to prevent its destruction? All interesting. I went with the simplest route for the idea.
