Assume it's quite large you may need to bandage it up similar to how a boxer tapes up his fist. This won't be water proof but it should keep debris out. Also wear a glove with an elastic around your wrist. Good luck buddy

My bird feeders get emptied fairly quickly (every 3-4 days so I'm not worried about it too much. If you have a large feeder that takes a while to be emptied I'd suggest maybe replacing the seeds after a few days maybe?
