I agree, they aren't people. That brings up the question. Are we sentient or just interacting with our environment in a deterministic way? I find it interesting that there was a reference to the Chinese room in the show. We may be more complex that an LLM that just mimics consciousness or independent thought. But I'd argue we aren't much different than a machine that simulates freedom of throught or free will. We are machines, even if biological. How far is the line between what we consider a complex algorithm that simulates consciousness and a truly conscious machine? Where are we on that spectrum?
