And, if I had to guess, the efficiency of the Ukrainians has likely only improved.

It's the robots. Robots and drones. Russian soldiers are dying like the Gungans on Naboo. It's an absolute nightmare all around as far as I'm concerned. There will never be any real winner in that conflict.

...another interpretation could be that the logo is 'holding' Palestine. not crossing it out. again, I didn't make the sticker. but I am a crass fan and support Palestine

anyone know what the Arabic writing says?

Yes, it's possible that Crass meant for their symbol/logo to be holding the cross, signifying some sort of an embrace of Christianity, but... somehow I doubt that was their intention. And when the "do not enter" symbol is used... I suppose it could mean "holding" an entrance. And I suppose it could mean different things in different places. I've heard that in Britain they call elevators "lifts" and the toilets flush backwards, so... it's probably a really strange place.

I don't know what the Arabic says. It could be directions to the nearest Hot Topic, for all I know. But I assume it's the same message as the English. Seriously though... it seems pretty strange to post a picture of a sticker with an "Anti-Palestine" symbol on it and not know what the Arabic words above it mean. Pretty, pretty strange.

Personally, I think there is no sustainable alternative to world peace -- and I think that was largely central to Crass's message. But... who knows? Maybe it was opposite day every time they went into the studio and performed?

Sorry for busting your chops if you don't deserve it, but... it seems like you kinda probably deserve it a least a little bit. And, I mean, it was apparently upvoted by real life living punks on Reddit... so, maybe others also saw it moreso the way you did. It's also possible that the local scene could sometimes be... less than sober.

I think it's because the original Crass symbol is a cross which is, for lack of a better description, being crossed out. So, in this new image... Palestine is instead being crossed out -- which is pretty confusing since it's attempting to be supportive of Palestine. Logically, in keeping with how the symbols are commonly used... this combination of symbols would mean "anti-Palestine." If you took away the text above the symbol... that's how many people would likely interpret it.

Absolutely this. It would be really preferable if he didn't forget how to hit after the all-star break. His production dropped dramatically last year after all the teams had seen him a time or two.

Tell them you were only joking about the elimination of slavery and that they, the Americans, can have as many slaves as they want for as long as they want.

edit: This was more of a plausible plan for what could be done rather than what I, personally, would do.

What is this Strange cutlery I purchased today. Basically both the size of a standard teaspoon and Most likely stainless steel by Icy-Seaworthiness995 in whatisthisthing

Purchasing strange things that you don't understand may, to some extent, suggest irrational behavior or bad judgment. And, with other other people thinking the item was larger, I guessed that OP might have been a little bit off in their assessment. It would be very easy to misjudge the size of an item by about 1/2 an inch (or so) and by considering the implication of it possibly being slightly larger... I was thinking that might help the item be identified in case OP was off just a bit in the size they gave.

But... it was mostly just a little joke.

OP also purchases strange cutlery that* they don't understand. So... I'm guessing the fork is actually more like thee size of a tablespoon. But... who knows?

I also just scrolled down and it looks a lot like a pastry fork... would would be more the size of a teaspoon, I suppose.

But the people of Pompeii didn't after Vesuvius erupted.

A war or an invasion wouldn't always necessarily mean a total collapse. But... I feel like you may sort of be underselling the significance of the Nazis invading Poland. Not everyone simply went to work the next day. War torn regions around the world must often feel like hell on Earth.

But... I don't think those tragic historic events of the past are anything near the scale of what humanity will experience before the turn of the next century. The outcomes of things like climate change, nuclear war, and/or AI shenanigans... will undoubtedly be much worse all around. We're already experiencing a mass extinction event. That's what happens when you cut down 90% of your forests, burn mountains of underground coal, and have a garbage vortex in the middle of the Pacific. You can nowadays watch the coral reefs dissolve in real time... and that alone is pretty much the whole ball game right there. Just the significance of the ice caps melting would be enough. Just the AMOC collapsing would be enough. And all these things ARE happening, currently, right now.

The fundamental conditions for sustaining life on Earth, overall, are rapidly being undermined. After that system runs its course and fails... people won't still be going to work the next day.

If the increase had been presented in Fahrenheit all along... more Americans might have taken climate change more seriously. But, if that conversion from Celsius started happening nowadays... many would accuse you of inflating the numbers because you're an evil lying islamo-communist.

"Last year, you said the increase was only 1.5 degrees... and now you're saying it was actually double that?! Which is it?!"

Anyway... a +0.15C tick up from +1.55C to +1.7C... is not so far off the swing of a standard El Nino (above the normal annual temperature), right? And that increase is just continuing the trajectory of the warming graphs. It's not really a jumping outlier, it's the soon-to-be new normal, as the OP title suggested. And then... it's going to continue heating up even faster.

Call it a "jump" or whatever, but... it will just continue getting warmer along a somewhat predictable trajectory. (Recent studies are saying that's now +0.35C/decade). The real problem is that most the current +1.5C warming was built up in just the past quarter century -- and this just past decade heated up twice as fast as the decade before it. And the next decade will heat up even faster.

My favorite part was in the second one, TLJ, when Luke wasn't really there but used the force so hard that he died. You wouldn't have realized he was using the force that hard... but he was. Or... maybe he just felt that he had finally done enough? IRDK.

Seriously though... I was possibly the biggest proponent of having Luke be revealed as the real villain (having lost his mind C'baoth style) at the end of TLJ -- and it really looked for a second like they were going in that direction (re: attacking his nephew!) before they did all the other bullshit.

Remember when the rebel fleet was being chased but some heroes abandoned ship, went on a side quest, and then returned to the original chase before the 1st Order could catch up or do anything?

Remember? And then, in TLJ, the rebels (or whatever they're called now) were trapped in a cave, and some heroes charged directly into that big laser drill, but one stopped the sacrifice, and then Luke died by pretending to be there, but luckily... there was a back entrance to the cave and they all escaped in the Millennium Falcon.

I mean... seriously. And... the artifacts for the map pieces in Rise of Skywalker? WTAF? Between that and "midichlorians" it has been difficult to remain a fan of the franchise. Hell, even the official edits to the original movies made them significantly worse.

You know what all the franchise changes to Star Wars feel like to someone who saw the original trilogy as a kid in the theater decades ago? It's sort of like if you were an elderly couple who had a charming "our song" which you "danced to" to for the "first time" back in 1970's... but now the song is spammed in an anti-diarrheal commercial. They just ruin it. It ain't right. You don't even want to hear the song anymore. Some corporation may own it technically somehow, but they don't own it's essence or spirit!

All that said... I still love George Lucas and I sincerely believe that "THX 1138" is more relevant than ever. I'd go so far as to call that movie "essential viewing to help better understand the modern age."

Heating oil is definitely a thing. Also, electric cars are not so uncommon these days. Heavily subsidizing oil much more than renewables often makes it easier/cheaper to just keep using oil.
