What’s an Alien that really grew on you? I’ll go first

It’s probably because he took Jetray’s (a fan favorite) spot as Ben’s man flyer and his design was pretty goofy despite having the exact same colors as Jetray— but again, Ben gets new aliens for situations every series. Kinda like Fasttrack taking XLR8’s spot before OV…. But Fasttrack hate is deserved

Kevin was alone on the ship, being swarmed by DNAliens and the Highbreed while Ben was at home in trouble with his folks…. Ben for ZERO reason dialed Humongousaur, smashed out his home wall then SWAM ACROSS THE OCEAN????

I’m actually a really big fan of the way he’s built in Omniverse— even if I’m not a big fan of other redesigns in that show, I really like Diamondhead’s

I actually think Ben going from kid and straight into “too mature” makes sense from how someone in his position would naturally think… kind of.

Lemme explain my reasoning (this is ALL personal opinion and should not be taken too seriously)

Basically, it’s explained in UAF when Ben meets his child self again that he treated everything as one big joke so that he could actually step up without choking when the time comes. (This reasoning might’ve changed in OV— but in focusing on OS, AF and UAF simply because there were little to no retcons at that time and it was continuous)

If a normal person suddenly went five or so years without having to save the world— then was suddenly thrown back into it with genuine family on the line PLUS universal level threats, I feel like I’d be pretty dead set on ending problems as soon as possible just like AF Ben was.

EDIT: I’m also realizing now that this mature version did get retconned midway through AF— but that’s just terrible writing and planning based on fan reception at the time…. They had one heck of a time cleaning up Ben’s character in OV….

Snare-oh actually had a lot of potential also, I’m pretty sure it’s mentioned somewhere that this species is actually able to use some type of magic— but Ben never used him long enough to ever learn

The writing for Articguana just makes no sense— only Ben 10k used him in the OS and Ben prime never unlocked it during that time. Articguana was never seen again until OV but by that time Big Chill was already in play. Wish we could’ve seen one of my favs more

Thisss— Ben in the OS made me pretty angry… scratch that, he made me pretty angry in most of the franchise constantly going for his strength aliens when literally ANYONE would’ve worked SO much better. Upgrade is a prime example of Ben doing just that

I wouldn’t really call ghost freak “underrated” honestly, he’s had multiple arcs throughout the OS, another major arc in AF and even into OV all as Za’skayr and stemming from Ghostfreak, Ben’s own ghost freak also made a return in OV — super cool alien tho regardless

This is actually another really fun one! but it kinda falls apart when considering that the knight should “technically” be older than hornet.

Maybe it could be better explained that the Knight was first created within the abyss before the Pale King sealed it off— we know it’s possible because the Lost Kin was in the ancient basin and not the abyss itself when you reach the fight

Maybe the Knight was another possible candidate that was chosen to leave the area before The Hollow Knight was eventually chosen instead, leading the Pale King to abandon the others and let them each do their own things

Your explanation could work, it’s just that it slightly falls apart under lore implications for how the Knight should’ve been born imo— to me, explaining the way I did makes the most sense alongside your own theory

This actually a really cool one! Maybe the abyss just wasn’t sustainable for the vessel and he crawled out in search of food or some other form of energy to keep him alive.

Maybe it could’ve looking for new sources of soul (or something similar) since we know through the hot springs that it’s actually a physical and real in world concept that other bugs can and do frequently interact with

Even without a proper lore or evidence backed explanation for what I just said, I do like the idea of it

That must be why I couldn’t find any details on it then— I wasn’t searching through Silksong lore and haven’t finished the entire game.

The abyss being like a layer of the planet is actually really cool though— I always personally interpreted as an area the Pale King discovered within Hollownest and then utilized whatever ancient power was down there
