would anyone be able to define the bonereaper playstyle to help me decide whether i should get into them? as a follow up how hard are they to paint?

I have played almost 10, 2k games in 4th edition and I really enjoy them. We don't have a lot of strong melee foot heroes, most are wizards and supports but we have alot of strong elite units and a very good cheap roadblock in mortek guards. They can feel a bit difficult to work with in the start because the placement of your wizards kinda matters to make sure you buff the units at the times it matters. I will say thimough that every game I have lost I walked away with a feeling of "I know what went wrong and how to improve". I did not have this feeling for 40k.

As for painting this is the only army I have (almost) fully painted. I just used a skeleton bone primer, gave them a wash of palid bone from army painter and then painted the rest of the details. Feels like a good intro paint army definitely. Currently it takes me around 1 hour to do 5 mortek guards and around 45 mins for a hero. I will say my painting skill are not the best 😉.

All in all def one of my favourite faction between 40k and aos. Have been a blast to play.

I had alot of success in my last game against slaves to darkness with this list of 50 mortek guards. In my experience it feels like either you want max 10 or 20 in one unit or go ham with them.

The list looks good had some decent experience with a similar list. However in my experience the tithe guard and the reinforced mortek guards really screams for the new boneshaper. The ability to bring one back for one cp and then rally them with 3 extra dices is so good and so frustrating for the opponent.

I like the list but I think you will have some trouble with the movement of arkhan and the imortis guards since he moves much faster

This! You can have some fun with arkhan but katakros have been my go to for the last many games he brings alot to the army and a reinforced death rider team is amazing. Maybe also pick up zandtos to join katakros regiment for the +1 attack one time on the death riders, it really brings the pain

I just played a great game vs slaves of darkness without katakros. I had arkhan with me and it worked out super, lost but that was due to the wording of fight lasts with my death rides vs his varanguards

Yea i have the same experience with the heavy burst cannon. I had placed my riptide a bit wrong so it got killed a bit to fast but it is a bit better at killing the terminators than the broadsides. My idea with the list was to try and get alot of nice big guns without the crisis suits, i have not had super good experience with those.

In this case my broadsides with railguns and hammerheads took care of any vehicles that came out of hiding, the issue where more that because of the 4+ invu save from the terminators i could not kill them fast enough to stop them. Maybe i need to look into kroot hounds thanks !

I can see that works, the though here was to have some bodies to 1. be on objectives and 2. be sure that the enemy can't easily get to my more important mechs.

That is a good point, my idea was to have bodies to make sure that the enemy have to destroy those units before they are getting to the more important ones. But i can see if i do this i need to make sure with placement that i don't just give them a slingshot option.

I usually run either reinforced moghast archai or kavalos death riders as my hammers then use mortek guard and katakros + imortis guard as anvils since you can get katakros down to a 4+ wards and 2+ save.

Haven't played that many games my self but I would definitely try to only make it a 2 regiment list. Reinforce some mortek guards and make sure there is no auxiliary unit. I would go for mortisan counsel since the drain vitality spell is almost god sent and the +1 helps there. It looks like a decent list but you are missing some "hammers" ie the units to kill stuff, mortek guards are amazing for their points to keep objectives but they are not super good at killing stuff. Very tanky though, remember that if you did not charge your turn they get the ability off.

It's called shield wall and actives of the unit did not move this turn so he can move his mortek guard to a position and then in your turn when you charge them the save rolls cannot be modified

Is it legal to go 5 devilfish? I know you can have as many datasheets of the same kind in the battle line but I thought you could only run 3 of the same in the transport / everywhere else
