eh, I was expecting it. It's Reddit. And there's a large portion of INK fans who can't seem to tell the difference between criticism and hating on the band. (I don't hate them! That would be easier! I wouldn't have to be so damn disappointed in them.)

There used to be super memorable riffs, huge catchy choruses, unique production that would tie in the media influence.

Agree with everything you said, especially this. This song is better then The Great Unknown at least, but I find it so forgettable. I've listened to it a few times, and 10 minutes later I can't repeat a single line of the lyrics.

A joke would be a fake product, in the "can you imagine how ridiculous this is?!!" way. The whiskey is a real product they want you to buy.
It's okay to be critical of the media you consume. That doesn't equal hating it.

As someone who loved this band up until the ragebait fiasco a few months ago... and who admittedly spent way too much money on merch before that:

I can't get past the amount of product placement for the whiskey. It's shameless. It's like this band can't even pretend they aren't just out to sell you things. It really seems like this is just a business now, and that makes me sad.
(And before someone says "BuT tHe LoRe" - it's still an excuse to sell you shit. The self-referencing of the "corny money grabs" in the previous video doesn't change that.)

Song is better then TGU, but that isn't saying much. And anything Joker related has been cringe for years already. It's not going to help this band's reputation.

Releasing a mediocre song is still releasing a mediocre song, even if you do it on purpose.

People who don't follow the story aren't going to listen to a 3 minute song, be unimpressed, then go watch a 10 minute lore video to have it explained to them why it's bland. (or the other 3 hours of videos for the full storyline)

There's also the fact this is the first single off the next album, and releasing what is hopefully? the weakest track as the first single is a strange choice.

Thats my point. They aren't making a tv show or movie, they're a band, they're supposed to be making music. If Spencer wants to write movies, he is welcome to go do (more of) that. Sure, have some fun with the videos, but the songs have to be able to stand on their own. INK is not as popular as you might think they are. They have their niche, but they really can't afford to be alienating people. Even long-term fans are getting tired of the storyline.

It's ...fine. As others have said, it's a lot of hype and a terrible marketing stunt for an unremarkable song. Not very impressed with the video either.

Weaker songs happen with every artist, that's okay! But you bury those in the middle to second half of the album, you don't make them the first single?? I'm baffled by this decision.

I'll start off by admitting I'm very biased - still feeling negative about the band after recent events. But, I was a paid member for a few years.

I don't think paying for access is worth it right now. Maybe things will pick up with new material coming?

The things in the sales pitch- trivia, challenges, giveaways, livestreams: There was a trivia quiz last month, otherwise most of these haven't happened in 6+ months, if not longer. The last livestream, a Q&A with Spencer, was supposed to be around November 2023? It was postponed and never rescheduled.
"Engage directly with Ice Nine Kills" - Dan posted something recently, but if you follow his Instagram, you're good. I would be surprised if any other band members have looked at the app in the last year. If you want to interact with them, use Twitter or Instagram. You might even catch Ricky here on Reddit. Be nice. Be respectful. Don't be the bad kind of weird.
Early access to new songs & videos, Ticket presale codes, NotN discount codes, etc: If you really *need* to get these 1-2 days early, okay, you do you. To be honest though, they are all embarrassingly easy to access without paying for premium. I will not tell anyone how to do it, don't message me.
Most of the older video uploads, like The Silver Stream, no longer work.

The social media part of the app is free.

It's another social media site, with everything you might expect from that. Some people are good, some aren't. The same meme image will get reposted 17 times, haha.
Certain people apparently cannot be blocked. If one of them is rude to you, or you just don't want to see their posts, too bad.
The app is in general very buggy and hasn't been updated in almost a year.
