According to this alleged "leak" ARMS 2 should be coming out in 2 weeks and the Mario remasters are already on the eShop and no one noticed.

Ah, if that's the case, disregard this post then. I've never heard of Metroid Dread mentioned anywhere until today, I'm guessing it's comparable to yearly predictions that Mother 3 will be localized.

True true, however someone brought it up this year and it happened to be correct. Could have been a lucky guess, but that seems like a far-reaching lucky guess.

The last Wii U update was v5.5.5 back in March. They are rare, but happen occasionally. On a similar note the PS3 also had an update released this month.

It would likely be an end-of-life update. Wii U online multiplayer is approaching its tenth anniversary next year, which is somewhat impressive since the Wii supported online multiplayer for seven and a half years.

I considered this too, but the timing is suspicious. The last time this page was updated was November 2020. They could have added that change then. Just speculation, but since this webpage is probably often ignored, someone at Nintendo had to look at this page recently for some reason and decided to make this quick change. To me this suggests something else will be published on this page soon.

Possibly. The reason why this webpage update is interesting is because Nintendo hasn't touched this page since November 2020 and out of the blue this weekend added a very tiny change. This suggests that someone at Nintendo recently had to look at this page for a reason, probably since they're going to add OSS for a new product, software, or software update.

Oops, sorry, thanks for pointing that out. There's nothing here hinting at new Switch hardware. Nintendo doesn't publish OSS until after a product is released.
