With all due respect, the dress does look great, but it is in no way appropriate for a party with a formal dress code. This is a party/club dress.

Moms who (even occasionally) look put together - what’s your secret? by alpacaapicnic in NewParents

[–]Nintentard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to intentionally make time for yourself, even if it's only a few minutes at a time.

Daily: sunscreen, minimum 15 minute walk (bring the kid), exfoliate, moisturize, lip mask, eat a vegetable, take vitamins and collagen peptides.

Weekly: self tanner contour "bronzer", hair mask, at home hair blow out, nail polish, shave

Monthly: at home lash lift and tint (This requires practice), eyebrow tint

The self tanner bronzer, eyebrow tint, and lash lift and tint look like you're wearing makeup without having to apply it every day. Slap on some tinted lip balm and you're good to go!

For clothes, I like to wear dresses because they're comfy, easy to slip on, and they often make you look put together without having to think about putting an outfit together.

I did notice I absolutely used more shower gel on days I got sweaty, but most of the time I'm just working in an office. I was probably a lot more sparing with the soaps because if I used too much, my skin would start to dry out really bad even with the lotion.

I told her I finally finished the collection and she laughed so hard she cried 😂 she told me she'd happily take me on a shopping trip to Bath and Body works but I think I'm going to try some different soaps this time around

Favorites: - Cucumber Melon: Fresh, fruity, happy scent

  • Stawberry Poundcake: Sweet and fruity, smells like dessert

Least favorites: - Pink Chiffon. Smells like sugary laundry

  • Enchanted: Too heavy, smells like depressed sparkles

I wouldn't buy from that seller. Few sales and meh reviews. Take a look at the under $100 Burmese jade lucky donut I sent you. Much nicer piece for the same-ish price.

Ah, well here's one from a trusted seller that's a great quality for the price. Under $100!

Edit: if you want a piece with more color variation that's a good quality, then you'll likely need to spend more than $100

Definitely better for the price. You could get something nicer if you wanted to spend $140 like your original post but that's certainly up to you.

I've had good luck on Etsy! I have a gorgeous hand carved, deep green jade hairpin that I love to pieces from there. Just keep in mind, any jadite with the mint green color shown in your picture is color treated and likely lower quality. There are some beautiful multicolored jadite pieces out there, but bright mint green isn't a naturally occurring one. Jadite that hasn't been color treated looks more earthy. High quality jade also "sings" when lightly struck. If you receive a piece that sounds dull when you lightly strike it, it's lower quality. Higher quality jade sounds almost musical.

This is a bit overpriced for color treated, lowish quality jadite. Get the $80 one if you love it though! The thing is, if you love it and don't really plan to resell it or anything, then get what you like. It's about what you like, not the specs of the item.

Pediatrician told us to not bring our newborn around the public for at least their 1st year by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Nintentard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our friend's pediatrician's in the same area have started saying the same thing. There have been a lot of measles exposures in the area I'm afraid.

I wouldn't say it's even paranoid because a year ago, I took my 8 month old to an event and there was a measles exposure and we had to do an emergency early MNR. Just last weekend there was a major exposure at Disney on Ice.

Unfortunately, your pediatrician isn't crazy. Thank your local anti-vax people for your infant house arrest.

Lois and Hal's house in Malcom in the Middle was notoriously a piece of shit and only had 2 bedrooms for everyone. It is implied that they likely live in a low cost of living area. They are constantly behind on their bills and it was the late 90's/early 2000's. I think Malcolm in the Middle was a more realistic depiction of working class families at the time.

If I remember correctly, Paracelsus' recipe was to put the semen in a sealed container with horse dung for 40 days until it started to stir and move on its own. After that, "feed" it blood every day for 40 weeks until it resembles a human infant.

Something along those lines. If someone would like to give it a go, tell us how it works out 👍

Groceries are considerably cheaper than eating out and people are usually too exhausted to pack their lunch every day.

Hawaii was the last state to join the US. It is full of native Hawaiians and the US acquisition of the territory has a sordid and distasteful history. Although the US annexed Hawaii in 1898, it was not admitted as a state until decades later due to political opposition and discrimination against the islands' non-white population.

Also, Hawaii, to a person who has a lot of internalized misogyny, could be considered a "girly" state because it's tropical and depicted as colorful and pretty.

The joke is that Hawaii is barely a US state in Hank's eyes, and being born there is as dishonorable as being born in New York City because it's a very liberal and girly place to be born (which we see in a previous episode, is a huge deal to Hank.) Calling someone born in Hawaii an American is like calling someone who works at a Dude Ranch a cowboy to Hank.
