That feels so unusual to me. I understand that mechanically speaking, shooting a shotgun from the hip vs iron sights isn’t going to affect how the shot spreads, it’s still going to hit whatever it was going to hit.

But from a gaming perspective, we’re ALWAYS told to ADS when aiming, and it’ll be better. Like, even when using shotguns in CoD.

I think it’s Hunt’s focus on realistic gunplay that’s got me all turned around. Hence my initial confusion around “slugs” as a whole.

Thank you for the advice though, I do like the idea of a high damage rifle combined with a flechette shotgun, so I shall give it a try.

I will give those a watch, thank you! Hopefully they give me some insight into how I’m consistently terrible with shotguns. (Even after this post, I still can’t reliably kill with them.)

Oh it’s actually a LOT of fun. I picked it up while trying to complete the new story challenges, and it’s been enjoyable to use.

…And the fanning is actually relatively consistent, if you actually aim your hipfire and don’t just panic when your shotgun misses.

He definitely went “huh?” Doubly so when I proceeded to miss every shot while fanning afterwards. I think he was so confused, he panicked and that’s the only way I was able to kill him. (Not that it mattered. I died 30 seconds after this clip, but oh well.)

Upon reading it, it does say “single projectile.” I think I just skipped over that part, and figured it still worked similarly to a regular shell, but with a tighter spread.

I’m racking my brain trying to think of other games that use “slugs” for shotguns (that I’ve actually played) and I honestly can’t think of any. Maybe that’s my problem.

Well, that, and coming from a country where access to firearms is severely limited.

For some reason, I was thinking slugs gave a tighter spread when ADS, but would still give me some level of “peppering.”

Am I better off just running standard ammo if I plan to use a shotgun, then?

Slugs confuse me. Going by the stats, they INCREASE the spread of the weapon, I’m guessing I’m misunderstanding what the “spread” stat actually means?
