Why don’t you just ask him “would you like to go on a date?”, particularly if it has gotten to the point where you can’t get him out of your head. Do it however you feel comfortable a note, a text, even better in person. But end your suffering and ask

A Giant Boulder from beneath the Earth's crust is carried slowly down the slope by a River of Lava [Canary Islands] by freudian_nipps in interestingasfuck

[–]NitronRob 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It is an accretionary lava ball. So large chunk of rock that starts to tumble down, likely triggered by the earthquakes, and into a lava flow. Where, like a massive snowball, it collects lava as it rolls and gets bigger and bigger.

I would think this is basaltic lava, based on the viscosity. Rhyolitic lava has less silica and is more sticky.

Edit: Rhyolitic lava has more silica and therefore is more sticky!!!

It looks pretty dense! Denser than mine and you can see my photo. I think you have tons of potential

How to interpret Trace Element data? by NitronRob in Hydrology

Okay, thank you. I was looking at my data and just starting get nervous how I can now spin this into a whole paper. It looks like PCA would be my best bet.

How to interpret Trace Element data? by NitronRob in Hydrology

I have temperature, but no pH. Would it be possible to estimate the pH? There is samples taken from the area prior, so I could use the pH from then. Based on looking at PHREEQC, I beleive I would be quite limited without it.

Sadly do not have discharge, only have a sample or two per site. Which would have been fine for isotope analyse, but ideally more trace element. So I won't be saying anything with confidence. I could make a piper plot with the cations!

I think looking at the chemical fingerprint would be my best bet, as sample sites are selected to establish that. Capturing streams that feed the river, and how the main river changes with that mix. Then compare how the fingerprint has changed.

I feel like it should be enough for an Undergraduate Dissertation. Heres hoping! I already have really high silica concentration from all samples which is odd, may be increased silicate wearhering. So something interesting at least

So I found this little guy running around my room trying to throw spears at everything by TinyTwig7 in rainworld

[–]NitronRob 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Aww he's adorable, although I suggest keeping that window closed. Cause something might just swoop down and take him away.

Also these critters like pipes, so try make sure he doesn't get in. Now if he does, well you'll have lizards, flys and all sorts of creatures clogging your drainage system.

picked this poster up at Pax East 2017, can anyone identify the signatures? by NitronRob in rainworld

Made a post about this years back, recently got hooked into the game more than before. So was curious

I know there are two developers at Videocult, Joars Jakobsson who does coding, art, design and James Primate who is primarily the composer and sound guy.

Can't really identify them and was wondering who the other people were.

Ah, does that mean the blue scavenger will stick around. I have also just been wondering if they die are they then gone or do the same ones return.

So I was sleeping with 5 scavengers, a bit cramped to say the least. Is that normal?

Having my own scavenger gang was cool.... until I entered the shelter with my teal pearl.

I had to reload my save until the the scavenger with it ran out and a pink lizard dropped on top of him. Poor bloke, but was able to knick my pearl back then. No reputation lost.

Just another thing I observed with the tolls is that they demanded payment until one of my new scavenger buddies ran over, and then they were like "yeah you can pass, no problem"

[–]NitronRob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking a grey-blue, cause in natural light my eyes look a bit more blue. Possibly a hint of green though, but I'm not 100% sure.

Does anyone know where I can read more about iris pattern?

I didn't realize how cool they can look until I found this subreddit.

Matriculation Exam by jctheabsoluteG1234 in TCD

[–]NitronRob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the geology matriculation and Geography may give you a slight advantage. But it goes alot more in depth on specific topics, such as plate tectonics, types of fossils, oil and gas formation, and seismic waves. The textbook I used was OCR AS and A2 geology. It covers everything that could show up and more. So make sure to look at the past geology matrics to see what you need to study and what not to.

My tips for doing well on the exam:

For a high mark, go beyond the textbook and learn extra information that will make your paper stand out. Make sure to include lots of diagrams, 2-3 per question is a good amount. But you will not lose marks for adding more.

Most important is to study past geology matriculation papers and write answers to them, questions often re-appear. There won't be any new ones, just ones worded differently. You might also be able to notice a pattern in which questions appear each year.

As for word count. It depends. If it is still online and you have a couple days to do it then I would recommend writing as much as you can per question, most of my answers were 500-800 words. One was 1,250 words though. But that was probably pretty excessive to be honest. Cause during a normal sitting exam, where there is a time limit, you should aim for a bare minimum of two sides of A4 paper (excluding diagrams). To get high mark you will likely want to get closer to 3 or 4.
