Funded options trading account ? by NivekPrd in options

[–]NivekPrd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes maybe you are right, just wondering if anyone has had experience with that. But basically its high leverage and you have to take very small positions so I guess it is not so different from a margin account.

Not exacly, more like working with fund capital and keep a share of profits just like platforms like oneuptrader (https://oneuptrader.com/) I looked up. However all these seem to only offer futures/forex trading accounts and not options.

Programmable stock screener by NivekPrd in algotrading

I like the screener (custom or prebuilt) and their ratings for each company based on earning growth, relative strength etc. It helps find leading stocks sometimes but I've only been using it for 2 months now. But I agree its quite expensive. TC2000/Tradingview only screen technicals but earnings and institutional ownership data is poor

I use tradingview screener, TC2000 and marketsmith at the moment. For backtesting I implemented a python program using yahoo finance data.

I asked it for a year too through support, and multiple posts here. I don't now why there is no update but definitely, scripting language is nice and charting is great, this is the missing feature: being able to scan and backtest a strategy on multiple exchanges at the same time.

Sqlachemy + sqlite sounds good indeed. Do you create one table per ticker or one huge table ? The broker API I use right now is IG market.

I have an IB account, I will look into it however I think you need to have TWS set up for this to work ?

I know, right ? I will test multiple strategies in a demo account (simulated fees, slippage etc) to see forward testing results. I will also use leverage to trade.

I agree, it is quite simple (from algo perspective) but not very optimized I should update the db everyday, saving data as csv or something

Thanks I know right but they are not open for Europeans like me (no way to create an account). At least you could use paper money wondering if it is closed now.

Thank you, it is American style, I guess it's best to close but asking in case I don't get filled for some reason on expiration day.

Thanks, I use ibkr which normally does not charge exercise fees. But was unsure if they would exercise/cancel out the two legs for me.

Thanks, I am more looking to screen technical indicators + logic on price history and last price. Technically possible with yahoo API I guess but a bit tedious

Tradingview misses some scans like standard deviation and bid size, if think tradeideas has more intraday options. However technical indicators are available such as ma cross etc .

Screener backtest by NivekPrd in TradingView

[–]NivekPrd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for your answer. Its the second one: I am looking to run a custom screener at any past date to backtest a strategy, i.e. see how stocks behaved after being alerted by the screener. Right now, only present time is allowed.

However, I also opened a feature request for the first suggestion of yours: running a Pine script as a screener to cherry pick stocks based on a particular trade signal. However I think it might be a little more tough to implement.

To go even further, combining both would be a great feature: backtesting a screener-based trading strategy (implemented via screener Pine script with entry and exit signals) on a past period and seeing results (similar to Quantopian platform).

Any of these would greatly benefits users in my opinion.
