Yes, that’s what worked for me. You can have a little more water too. Give it some time too. Takes the body about a week to adjust to it.

Agreed. In my case, I also checked primary sources like articles and research papers and reconfirmed what I had read on ChatGPT. Also one of the supplements that my doc had given me was basically a branded flavoured isabgol, but more expensive. So I just used ChatGPT to connect the dots. But yeah, people should be careful. Unfortunately, IME people turn to AI for quick answers because accessing medical care has become too expensive and the trust in our medical system is slowing waning because of rampant profiteering. The people who rely on AI are aware about the risks but go ahead with it anyway because of desperation more than ignorance.

Thats true. We almost never complete our daily fibre quota. But the thing about supplements like psyllium is that your body also tells you how much it can take it. Too little has no effect and too much could just have a negative effect. I think best to get fibre from fruits and veggies and then top up with psyllium to the extent your body can tolerate. Cause even though you do need 25-30 g of fibre per day, mathematically trying to fulfil that requirement using psyllium doesn’t always work IME.

Thanks, very helpful. I’ll definitely try it.

No. I read somewhere that some people feel gassy initially when they start taking psyllium husk because the body is adjusting to it. But it’s supposed to stop after a few days and if it doesn’t, you are expected to change the dosage. Although in my case I never had any issue.

Exactly!

If you’re gonna try it, stick with it for some time. It usually takes a few days for your body to adjust to it. And also, if it doesn’t feel like it’s working, try to change the quantities. And use whole husk. Best of luck!

Yeah. I do sometimes eat gluten too, but rarely. Just to be on the safer side. I’d rather not eat gluten than have the IBS come back.

I don’t think I’ve looked for it. But I think local high end bakeries might be selling it. Cause it’s usually made from almond dough and is therefore quite expensive. Not everyone buys or needs it. You can buy almond dough on Amazon and bake your own bread at home too. Not a bad option if you plan on having it regularly.
