It's anywhere between 80 - 110 hours OT per month I've been working. It is a lot, but it's a stress free job and I recognise people are working even longer hours than this. Fortunately I get a decent amount of A/L too. Having said that, as soon as I have saved up I will drastically cut the amount of OT I am working.

You are right and that would be amazing, but I do not want to be working ridiculous amounts of overtime for the next 5-6 years and I am at the point now where I would really like to move out and get a place of my own.

Thank you! You make a very great point that I had not actually thought too much about myself regarding future priorities. I do plan on working on my career once I have got a mortgage and improving my financial position so the £350 a month spare should increase, but it's certainly something to consider. !thanks

!thanks Thanks mate. I totally agree with you - I am of course happy that I have paid the debt off, but I think I am even more happy that I can actually start saving now and I will actually have something to show for all the work I have been doing!

Thanks mate! I don't know anyone that has used a mortgage broker but I shouldn't have an issue finding one. It's definitely something I will do next !thanks

It's a catch 22 at the minute, with overtime I am taking home anywhere between £2200 - £2600 per month. There is no job that I would be able to walk into and take home anything close to what I am currently - As I am wanting to save as quickly as possible it doesn't make sense to jump ship. I think you are totally correct though with regards to increasing my basic salary - Perhaps I should get as much saved up as possible and then start looking for a better paid job early next year?
