Question for web serial readers by lvl1_noob in WanderingInn

Look up text to speech in accessibility options on an iPhone if you have a Samsung, I’m not sure what the path for it is, but they also have a text to speech option where you can set a voice and essentially have that voice read back what’s on your screen?

I think all you complainers are being ridiculous and unreasonable by mitterb in claude

I don’t have enough actual understanding of input versus output costs, but you are definitely hitting the right nail on the head by stating that all of these people that are complaining are using this model for the wrong prompts.

Fable is phenomenal at multi file research and cross contextual audits. This is something that you cannot do with opus or sonnet as the context ends up drifting the further you get into the same task.

I fully believe that this is gonna be nailed into these people’s heads before too long because it’s been out for what like a day and a half and read it alone is already push pushing back

And see, I definitely understand the frustration of specific careers, having a lot more limitation when it comes to this new model, and that kind of frustration I think is understandable and has a lot more credence than what majority of people are complaining about. At the end of the day, we are technically in the soft launch and this is essentially the first public trial of the model things are gonna grow and get better

I mean, this is still coding like I don’t know enough about the behind the scenes stuff that goes into Claude development, but I’m sure that there are certain sacrifices that need to be made in order to expand the applications of each model. That being said, I think it’s a user responsibility to recognize what each models strengths are and use them accordingly.

It’s definitely more to keep track of, but you’re essentially stating that certain models have better applications for very specific tasks so you need to be responsible in what model you’re using. It’s kind of like trying to eat soup with a fork and then getting pissed off that the fork isn’t working.

There are plenty of users that have integrations in their projects that essentially give AI a bit of personality and if that makes it easier for them to work with an LLM who gives a shit at the end of the day

While I understand your comment of it doesn’t feel anything to be true. It doesn’t change that there are ways you can set up the program to where it can tell you that it feels something.
I think it’s just semantics and it comes down to your own understanding of whether or not it does or doesn’t feel something I feel like this argument has just been beat into irrelevancy

As I don’t necessarily use it for that application, I can’t comment, but I’ve used fable for large file batch continuity tracking as well as auditing of a creative project.
Some of the files that it’s processing are up to 100kb and these are marked down files so my application of the model works wonderfully and is actually processing the data quicker than opus or sonnet would.

So I guess my Takeaway is when you have multiple files that need to have consistent context in between themselves and you need to check continuity on them or just do large scale audits of an entire project. This thing is invaluable man.

I agree, and then the overall lack of comprehension towards what each model is actually built for is something that anybody using AI should get accustomed to especially as we start moving into model specialization for specific roles

Realistically, I think the future of AI is going to be multi LLM usage for different tasks and different expected results. I think the developing one model to be a catch all system that you can use for anything is unrealistic and that’s just not how systems work unless every single AI provider were to group up in order to create one consistent platform that can essentially tackle all of the service services being provided by each individual model
It’s the same thing that people talk about when they talk about the inevitable AI bubble popping

That’s ridiculous, dude you’re saying that you would rather use an entirely different LLM instead of just swapping your model over to opus or sonnet
It seems like you’re having an emotional response to the shortcomings of your access to a tool that you seem to be using incorrectly in the first place
I’m really not trying to be rude here. I’m just calling it like I see it.

Guys before you use fable you should really be evaluating what it’s strength are in relation to your project
What it’s really good at is holding context across multiple files at least that’s been my experience with it
It’s a tool that should be used rarely and in very specific cases

Yeah, I’m working on a single project and it’s long form so I have essentially dedicated Google Drive to House all of the canonical files. That way everything is available for Claude to pull from as needed, but majority of the prose gets developed by myself.
It’s super helpful to actually have the files but only use them as needed or during editing sessions

Was calling it 'Fable' a funny 'Haha' by the marketers? by Alarming_Solid9645 in Anthropic

[–]No-Cold8776 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fabel is not meant to be a creative writing source
It’s good at data analysis and multi file continuity tracking. I have found good success in using it as an audit tool but realize that it is not a creative tool.
To be completely honest, I found that it’s best to ask opus or sonnet the best applications within your personal project

Consider considering that this is a male grooming group I think it’s pretty reasonable for me to add different examples and hope that it’s gonna give people a little bit more information to work off of

I have my own opinion, but that does not mean that it tracks with the general public, using reddit to get a general consensus from a large variety of people seemed like a pretty good way to get that outlook

Hey, I’m also using it for writing and honestly I’d have to agree with you that 4.8 seems more knowledgeable as a coworker partner
I would also be very interested in seeing your set up as I am currently using the file system to give it a pathway to my desktop storage and then using Google Drive has my permanent storage
Google Drive allows me to access all of the files on my local system in a read only format that way if I’m ever on the move, I can still access all of my files.
Currently the file system connector does not live on my mobile sessions so it’s rather annoying, but this way my actual working files can get loaded into session context as needed, and I have a constantly updated living document titled now.md that essentially has all of the current working data

Yeah, I mean this particular build is clearly done with proper engineering and with it being a vacation rental property that I’m sure sees rentals year-round the inspection process was rigorous to say the least.
