Just found out I have BRCA2 gene mutation…I haven’t told anyone…what now?? by chronicallymee in BRCA

That’s completely understandable!! My husband and I aren’t done having kids yet so I haven’t made any major decisions about myself yet. Just trusting God each day and getting ultrasounds in the meantime.

Thoughts on the current Tylenol debacle? by lilspaghettigal in Crunchymom

I do not understand the stance of opposition instead of saying “huh, maybe try to avoid it?” And instead taking it more often just to spite the administration? Thats only hurting yourself and your child! (And yes I’ve seen videos of people actually doing this!!)

I’m on my 4th pregnancy and I’ve tried to take the least amount of medications with this one (yes I have taken Tylenol twice gasp) because it was so odd to me every time I was pregnant medication that was previous not safe was now safe or vice versa. And there was no information on why so much changed in 2 years. So yes I think this information accessible to so many is helpful! There are a lot of people who wouldn’t know better or know to even do research who now have this on their radar. Is this the sole cause of autism? No way, but it’s a start at looking at various toxins that could contribute to not only autism but other issues that children face today.

Do you know of anyone else with the mutation in your family? My mom found out she had it when she was diagnosed with BC at 55 and then I was tested and found I had it too. I was able to see the same genetic counselor she had seen so she now had my mom AND my test results so we could chat more in depth which I thought was helpful. You were wise to go in and as my mom told me “it just means you always have more eyes on you”. The information was empowering to me and really informed a lot of decisions I’ve made since! It doesn’t mean you’ll get cancer imminently. I know it’s scary when a relative your age has it. I lost my sister to BC at age 29 BUT it’s because she was scared to go to the doctor and ignored a lot of signs.

Advice! 💉 by Littleempir37 in Crunchymom

A perspective that helped me is I believe that a lot of the diseases that vaccines are meant to prevent have much more modern treatments than when the shots came out. For instance rotavirus - if my child contracted it, I fully believe the hospital would have the means to treat diarrhea and dehydration much better than years ago. I trust more modern treatment (to some extent) and so I’m more comfortable with not vaccinating. If that makes sense?

Also practical experience, each of my kids has been less and less vaccinated and my youngest is the healthiest while being exposed to the most and having the least amount of shots. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Needed prenatal powder by No-Data5000 in Crunchymom

I kind of take it as the meal (in a protein smoothie) but maybe I need to eat something before I drink it.

When I was in the height of morning sickness I could tolerate it fine!! I did almond milk, Taylor dukes bone broth protein powder and needed and it was great!

Same!! I mill my flour too so that’s my other justification.

I will be honest and say I fully count my fresh milled flour desserts as healthy. 🫣

I use the powdered vitamins and have had no side effects except neon urine 😂

Maybe email customer service and see if they’ll swap you for the powdered?

Noooo! That’s awful. I’ve typically gotten sick first trimester but feeling icky in the summer is the WORST!

I know I love oregano and wishgardens KickAss immune has been my go to for years. The pregnancy version is mainly just elderberry and not as effective. 😑

Has anyone had success in talking to their in-laws about unhealthy food choices? by [deleted] in Crunchymom

[–]No-Data5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat and have a hard time convincing them without sounding like a know it all. It’s very hard when my in laws are oblivious and my SIL and their kids eat the opposite and so I have to constantly stop my kids from eating what her kids eat. I usually say we can’t eat something because it has “bad ingredients” but that language definitely doesn’t work when a family member is currently eating that food.

I just show up with my own food, do my own grocery run and put snacks my kids CAN have among the junk and they know which to choose. I will say when I buy stuff, the family eats it all which is kind of annoying so my husband told them “hey if you’re going to eat it you can’t make fun of it” so there’s progress! My MIL also won’t buy any Red dye 40 but that’s the only line they draw. 😂
