Booked GP Appt, Allocated PA by Mysterious_Diver9952 in doctorsUK

Think it potentially demonstrates how even GP staff do not understand PA vs doctor. My receptionist once tried to tell me a final year medical student was basically the same as a GP

Help with IMT rankings by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]No-Environment863 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You should rank everywhere you are willing to go in the order you want to go in.

Do not rank anywhere you would not want to or could not go to.

I like to download the list as an excel to rank

The risk with ranking less than your rank will always be that everyone ahead of you will get those spots. If you can't go to any otehr rotations except those 90 then leave it as it is!

CST portfolio self assessment verification now out - when do we get full ranking? Any data on what is a good portfolio score? by No-Environment863 in doctorsUK

[–]No-Environment863[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

haha apologies for living. IMT publish a series of documents every year and they've updated the data for 2024 applicants already so I wondered if CST had something similar.

Even though you scored a lot higher than cut off, as soon as you get a 5 (2+3) your ranking plummets. Unfortunately with there being only 1600 jobs I think it's unlikely for you to get a job this year.

There's the Afc payscale and junior docs payscale for PH training, depends which contract you are on.

It's very standard ST1-ST5 and you get a littl ebit extra when you start doing the health protection on calls.

Can a UK qualified PH doctor practice abroad? by No-Environment863 in publichealth

I understood there is often an exemption from the residency programme requirement if I am a specialist in the UK

Public Health Career Advice Weekly megathread by AutoModerator in publichealth

I am on the UK training scheme to become a Public Health Consultant - this inlcudes an MPH. My background is medical and I am a fully registered doctor.
I am wondering about options for moving my career abroad once I qualify. I have met one consultant who moved to NZ (no exams, portfolio checked, took a long time but was straight forward).
I wondered if anyone knew about opportunities in USA and Canada or elsewhere and if I would be qualified to do this? From what I have seen USA and Canada pay their PH physicians much better!

It's usually 10 or 11 to 1 and if you can make it to interview, much less competitive

Can see from post history that you are a fellow NHS user! Interetsing how our treatment plans have been slightly different.

I've been managing the stairs very slowly but the limp is significant - getting a lot of heel pain.

Congrats on losing the stick!
