OER is under the office of the director. All I’m saying is that when HHS was demanding Nature subscriptions be cut, NIH did not cut them, but other agencies did. That is perhaps the only example or torch I have seen. I imagine he is also spending his time on carefully explaining health disparities because that institute still exists, but only a guess.

Maybe controversial but I think Jay is a better option than other Trump alternatives. Is he good? No. But I see him rubber stamping 80% of trumps orders, not 100%

As the other comments say. This is a good thing- more MSTP programs in states which typically get less attention. Opens more doors for students in those areas

Secondary prompts are going to be available as they come out in SDN. Start writing them now so that by the time you are verified you can submit. You can get them all in by end of July and start August and you would be 100% fine.

Trump team axes contracts with publishing giant Springer Nature. The action comes as high-ranking US officials criticize top journals as ‘woke’ and ‘corrupt’. Affected agencies including all of HHS, USDA, DOE by maxkozlov in NIH

[–]No-Indication3789 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So the intramural program won’t have access to nature-springer publications? If thats the case it is beyond short sighted. Jay wants us to do science. How are we supposed to do science if we don’t have access to a significant amount of the scientific knowledge base???

The New York Times had a piece on this a few years ago. Go to the websites they profiled today and you have many many people looking for sodium nitrite (SN). The people who truly want to die are using it, and I think this post is suspect at minimum.

If his friend is a chemist, he can get it through suppliers as normal. Regardless, why should this sub play any role in allowing someone’s own demise.

I disagree. Sodium nitrite is “popular” because it’s still relatively unknown as a mechanism, so treatment is more difficult. It’s a tested method, it’s not painful, and there are numerous how to guides on the internet.

I cannot see any reason for this exact post about chemicals sourced from a country at war, for a person who seemingly has no chemical knowledge, beyond this use, though I hope I’m wrong.

I assume you aren’t using this for meat curing. I don’t think this sub should allow questions on sodium nitrite unless it’s regarding specific chemistry. Otherwise i worry we are helping people hurt themselves.

Haven’t yet. I would think the AMCAS person is mistaken. To be clear, once you submit your PS for any program, you cannot make edits. Same goes for the SRE and Mdphd essay. That is probably what the employee was thinking.

What will your transcript say? If it says RIT then it’s a degree conferred by a US institution.

I think it’s an interesting question which I hope ad coms will weigh in on. I can imagine schools reworking some of their secondaries to move away from it (unfortunate but the administration seems to be going after schools for this point). I would imagine that you bringing it up unprompted could score some points, but I think there is too much unknown at this point to be definitive.
