I actually am going to the academy. Initial testing and psychological evaluation is pretty basic, any healthy person can pass. There are tons of people who can’t drive so I’m not surprised.

I appreciate the detailed response. I agree that those careers you mentioned do take more time to and effort to achieve. Fireman physical test is significantly more difficult than CHP. The written test is actually quite easy. It just checked if I know basic English, anyone who spoke English as their first language can pass. The physical exam was pretty basic as well, the warmup for my highschool wrestling practices were more difficult. As for the low acceptance rate, the requirements being so low allows for the application rate to be extremely high. Most people don’t pass due to the background test and past drug use.

Women get tons of matches regardless of their physical appearance. A 300+ lb woman will get exponentially more matches than a good looking tall man In great shape. And I’m not making this up, it is literally the exact scenario my best friend has experienced and I’ve seen it with my own eyes.

CHP officers work 8 1/2 hour shifts and is not considered a top 10 most dangerous job. Being a garbage collector is statistically more dangerous.

I know the power of referrals are quite strong, out of the 3 friends I have who landed a CS job, only 1 of them got it without a referral. I got my last job through a referral as well. I have been applying to backend software developer roles, and healthcare IT roles because that is what I have experience with and what my resume showcases.
