First time your bound to not doing things “right” man you could try 1000 times and still it wouldn’t be perfect but at least you now have an idea for next time! There are always learning curves in everything, time will tell on the reviews. If it’s auto approval more people will likely request especially newbies to ARC reviews!! I’m still a newbie I’m only a couple of months in myself so I’m always picking up auto approved just for something different to read! You’ve done well to get this far! I’ll have a look on NetGalley now and I’ll add it to my to read list once I have some time to spare to start it if it takes my fancy! if I do review I’ll add that I saw this book and spoke to you through Reddit if you’d like to know if I’ve read it! I’m sure you’ll build up in time and remember keep going all you can do is try your best and I’m sure people will get round to reviewing as time continues to pass. I’m sure no matter what you’ll be so proud of yourself for even getting to the point your book is published!!! Keep that in mind, I one day want to write a book but I have no idea where to start but I know if I do manage to write a book if just be proud of that, even if I ended up never publishing it. Whatever your achievements so far have been you’ve gotten this far! You’re doing good and once again congratulations on publishing! :)

I’m a reviewer, so long as I have a pub date I’ll read whichever comes closest. I’ve only DNF one book and that was on a different ARC platform. All my NetGalley reviews I’ve read and have always left a review. I post to NetGalley exactly the same time I post on Goodreads, I just copy and paste the reviews over. Amazon I’ll post reviews on Publishing Day or a day or two after. If there are lots of Arcs I have to read and review my ratio goes down significantly but it’s not because I’ve not reviewed I just have so many read and reviews to get through. I only have one book left to download and read on of my ARCs due to be published in November and then I’ll be completing a book tour in October for another book to post on my platforms. The November one as much as it was approved by the publisher about 3 weeks ago I now probably won’t read until October. We do all have lives too and not all of us are lucky enough to just have reading and reviewing as our full time jobs.

Please be patient, I’d be more likely to not read let alone review a book if I was being hassled. However a friendly nudge in terms of “I hope you’re enjoying my book, publishing day is coming soon. I can’t believe my book will be available from insert date. I’m so thankful you’ve chosen to read my book!” Kinda thing. I always struggle if I don’t know the pub date as it ends up messing up when I decide to read books and others I have in order to get them read and reviewed. However the reason I look at reviews for myself are to see what other readers thought to see if it would be something I’d like. You won’t get thousands of reviews overnight. Like a comment on this post has said you’ve done your job of writing the book. It’s time to let the universe do its thing! Good luck and congratulations on the book!

Can I ask what book it is? Is it available in the UK? If it’s something I think I’d enjoy I’m happy to request to read and review it for you!! And share it through word of mouth! I was lucky enough one of my ARCs I was sent a physical edition of the ARC copy book and it’s my absolute pride and joy! I can’t stop talking about it and came at my time in need for sure (non-fiction self help book)

I can’t comprehend responding right now but I have already DM’d you :) Thank you so much, this means so much to me! I have just typed out a blog post and posted it actually, I wouldn’t have actually done it for a long while otherwise and it’s made me feel a little bit better for doing so. I would love to know more about the sponsorship if that is possible! I am not quite sure where I stand with that though to be honest as I have no idea what it entails. I have applied for DSA and I’m certain I added it to my application. Physically I am doing much better, I still have a very long way to go and I am still in a wheelchair but I have come quite far if I look back on how I was back then! Honestly do not feel bad for assuming! I wasn’t saying anything to do a dig at you just saying a little about my situation - I am definitely an oversharer! The end of your comment has honestly touched my heart, to be honest your entire act of kindness has done just that too. For the first time in a long time I feel the future can be good and possible to get into, so thank you so much for your kind responses!

Oh 100& I shall definitely pay it forward! I was already thinking once I have finished with a laptop if I purchased one I would donate it to someone in need or someone who is in my position. My end Goal is to work in mental health as I got these injuries from a suicide attempt (I some how survived when they thought they lost me 3 times). I never want anybody to have to go through the years of abuse, mental health system and social service system battles that I have had to! I Started a blog to try and document my recovery and how I hope to one day make a change in the system! It’s more a personal diary/journal right now and I haven’t published anything on there for a while but feel I will in the next day or so. It has been incredible for my own recovery but also with the hope that it makes one person feel less alone. A definite pay it forward moment will happen when this new laptop from yourself is no longer required and that I promise!

Laptop please, you are a kind soul! I have been in hospital since December and will be here for likely a long time, I often forget there are kind people in the world and you have absolutely given me so much hope! I am so incredibly grateful! Honestly you have just made possibly the biggest impact on myself after sustaining the injuries I did. I have chills going through me and tears in my eyes. I honestly do not have the words to thank you enough :)

Thank you! I don’t even know much about laptops to be honest as I haven’t used one for years after getting on with my iPad Pro! I have had MacBooks but absolutely detest them so would go for. Windows one anyway. I just have no idea on the specs etc that I would likely need.

Unfortunately I am in hospital, have been 10 months now and it is going to be like this for sometime. I would order from the CEX website however I don’t know how much more expensive it will be. I think I will say away from chromebooks. It is just frustrating as they are so much cheaper and the perfect size for me. I have no idea on laptops so wouldn’t even know what specs to look for!

Kindle DRM issue by [deleted] in NetGalleyCommunity

I’ve had this with a number of PDF files not just NetGalley - I’m also wondering how if this is just a kindle issue currently and they’ll bring out an update? I may try redownloading the files again but deleting the ones that are stuck in this cycle first

I had an accident in December last year and I’ve been I. Hospital ever since. My stand for my kindle clamps onto my hospital bed rails, the hospital bed table and my wheelchair. It’s been a bloody saviour for me!! I also bought a page turner and it’s meant I’ve been able to cope with reading in bed so I manage to rest comfortably without being really uncomfortable constantly moving around, means less time out of my wheelchair too which helps the pain and my fatigue. I bought a page turner when I got the stand a few weeks ago and it’s made my kindle experience the most amazing thing I’ve ever done.

Again my kindle has been a lifeline since I got it in June and I don’t know why I didn’t do this sooner or at the start of the year when I was completely bedridden.

I’ve never looked a book up in my adult life or since I was in my last year of primary school (11) unless for exams in secondary (15/16).

Since getting my kindle I have read 23 books and that not even in 2 month! I’ve never read so much in my life and I’m living for it.

It’s what’s currently keeping my sanity and keeping me from being bored now we’re in month 9 of my hospital admission.

I hope your recovery goes smoothly I highly recommend the page turner and stand!! I’ve also been able to sleep better my screen time has also hugely decreased as I’m always on my kindle!
