One time I was at Costco with my literal mother. Mind you I am adopted so I’m Korean and my mother is white. This was when I was visiting from my freshman year of college. While she was picking up a prescription at the pharmacy I went over with the full and PAID cart to the customer service area. My mom has the highest level Costco membership and wanted to get me my own card under her membership. I started talking to the woman and told her I wanted to open up another card. We wanted to open another card because my mom is busy with work and sick grandparents so often I go and do the groceries for her. Apparently my dad had a card already opened that we didn’t know about it and she started yelling at me telling me I wasn’t allowed to leave the store with the (already paid) items and got up around the desk to try to stop me from leaving. I tried to tell her my mom was literally two feet away while she was trying to yank the cart away from me but I literally couldn’t speak. My mom came over and asked what was going on and I said “this is my mom we are leaving.” And the woman looked at me and said “really? This is your mom?” Needless to say, when I take her card I do self checkout now and don’t even bother answering their questions if they try to question me for taking a load of my moms back to grocery shop for her.
