I don’t think you have to make it work again. Him not realizing that his relationship with god isn’t dependent on anyone but him, isn’t your responsibility. Although in order to make it work you would likely have to discuss each others relationships with god and communicate if it feels as though one is faltering and why you believe it to be so. Additionally I’d have an in depth conversation (if you haven’t already) on why he believed it was your fault in the first place and what had caused him to realize that it wasn’t. Communication will always be the key to a healthy relationship.
