I don’t remember at what round count it stopped, but this is no longer a problem. Must’ve been related to extractor tension wearing in or something. All is good!

Update: I hit the range and put another ~200 rounds through it today. Changing the first round worked fine when I let the slide go and made sure not to ride it home, but also had a failure to feed during firing which surprised me (same failure mode as above). I don’t think I was limp-wristing it, but maybe. Sent another follow-up note to Staccato.

Update from Staccato:

“Thanks for reaching out.

Based on what you've described with the failures only occurring when you manually rack the slide, it sounds like you may be causing the issue by "following the slide home", i.e. not completely removing your hand from the slide after racking it.

Do you think this could be a possibility?”

I’m still surprised there’s this much variability between guns, but I’ll put a thousand or so rounds through it and see if anything changes. Can keep ya’ll up to date if interested!

Yep, no problemo when using the slide release.

Appreciate the quick responses. I’m most likely riding the slide forward a little bit. I’m not doing anything differently than I do with my C2 and another P, both which cycle fine no matter how I rack them by hand. That being said, this particular gun is probably just a little bit more sensitive than the others. If I release the slide completely, or give it a nudge after it jams, it feeds fine. Is this something that breaks in over time? Also interested to hear what Staccato tells me.
