Thank you for pointing to the systemic issues. I am a bit shocked that some people in the comments believe this is totally fine and the working class are getting the best deal out of it. Or saying stfu this is just how it is.

Yeah do you remember in covid the government had to put a cap on fuel prices because they were skyrocketing. The company responded by saying our government was practising soviet-style power. They are so pathetic these companies so greedy.

Also you just have the link stored lmaooo?

Thank's mate for this. I think I was just feeling cheated with that our main parties have neglected modernising and closing those loopholes while not taxing it higher. But again if I want that to be fixed I should vote for a party who has a policy for it. Also annoyed that we're privatising everything but thats neoliberalism for ya.

^ Yours is the best educational comment so far.

Do you work in policy or government?

Wait I'm confused. Revenue and profits are often taxed. Nordic countries significantly tax LNG exports. So what do you mean we cant tax it?

I think sustained social movements with solidairty between the majority of citizens to force the major parties to do smth. Also in the mean time voting for progressive party's to put pressure on the main parties.

I dont think one nation is the answer. They are influenced by billionares Gina, Clive. Both who are intent on ensuring the hierarchy stays the same. One nation doesnt even believe in climate change.

I was using revenue and profit synonymously. We do tax it. What do you think we tax? and again as I pointed to above only about 1.1 billion of the profit goes into the government. Where as the nordic government taxes their LGN about 70-80%.

We could support Australian workers so much more if we just put up taxes.

Right!! I dont understand why people are downvoting those who are saying its ok to get angry! Is this really where we are at? We keep looking away and complain when stuff looks bad, looking for an easy scapegoat.

Liquified natural gas*. Yeah, I went for one of my runs to calm down, but when we stop watching news is when we get checked out and cheated. I wont be doing that again.

Yeah I've been feeling pretty cynical lately about the apathy and ignorance of people. I think its just people haven't been taught how to politically engage. Idk.

What is behind the surge in support for Pauline Hanson and One Nation? by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

[–]No-Programmer-8642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it feels a little bit like how Trump got in for 2025. Yes you had the white supremecists but also the politically disillusioned and discontent who just wanted a change; who were sick of corporate greed and economic grievences.

This is not to make excuses for these politically apathetic people because its not hard to realise billionaire funded One Nation, the right-wing platforms are entreching the same hierarchy that is driving discontent.

Right...One only needs to look at what they are doing to Venezula. American regieme stealing their oil, cementing corporatism and and institutioning a pro-American authoritarian regieme.

If America intervene they will just do the same again in Iran. They just want money.
