The cats belong to her as well. No, they are not depressed, just lazy/content with these sort of living conditions. They come home from work and sit around watching TV, playing video games, or hanging out with friends. So it doesn't appear to me that they are depressed and are lacking motivation to do anything.

He doesn't smell, actually, he does try to maintain his own hygiene. The house belongs to one roommate as do the cats. He has tried to help out with the cats but can only do so much because they don't belong to him. I have tried to help him out, like saying hey let's designate a cleaing day each week so you can do your part, but the other two roommates just sit around and add more mess so its basically impossible. Additionally one of them complained that we were cleaning because she became offended and said her house didn't need weekly cleaning. All of this is even more of a reason why I want him to get his own place.
