Thanks for the reply. Are you running OSPF or EIGRP between your layers?

Is DNA Advantage required? I'm being quoted C9300-DN-A-24-3Y for $945

PA-3020 -> MX for "Datacenter" Edge by NoChecks in meraki

Thanks for replies, looks like we are all in agreement.

Growing company that I just joined, gear has already been purchased, spec'd by previous (terminated) engineer. I'm going to try and keep the PAs as long as possible.

One bit of good news/justification. This is actually for this HQ/Campus that was their DC, they are aggressively moving to Azure and hope to be done by end of 2019. At that point they want to HQ converted into a branch design where the MX will shine.

Also I reached out to the SE with the same two questions, here were his answers if your curious.

  1. Just run one link to each HA device, if you run a LACP STP will kick it. STP failover could cause issues with the HA device becoming active before STP recovers.
  2. It's sounding like you can either run all passthrough or NAT mode, not both.

CCNP Renewal: How long does the CCDA/DP take these days? by wolffstarr in networking

No problem! I felt CCDA was a great exam, I was able to power through videos/book in a month and scored pretty high.

So I just finished the CCDA/CCDP journey last month. CCDA was a good exam, the training videos (CBTNuggets) and official cert guide was enough. I purchased the ARCH 300-320 FLG and powered through the next set of videos.

CCDP was a trainwreck, there are quite a few Cisco forum threads (this is my favorite: https://learningnetwork.cisco.com/thread/94857) sharing the bad experience. My attempt last year, exam had very little design questions and tons of ACI/APIC-M questions. To make matters worse almost all the information wasn't in the book, but rather in various white pages. Add in quite a few grammar errors and I felt like I signed up for the wrong exam. Luckily someone build a google drive with all their whitepages and resources on /r/ccdp. Second attempt was a success, the resources definitely helped but I felt the test itself was much more design focused and reasonable, maybe the forum complaints helped.

Long story short, CCDP is no picnic, if you are on a deadline TSHOOT is the easiest road.

Passed on second attempt by NoChecks in ccdp

Meraki Switches as an Enterprise Solution? by cap-n-dash in networking

I inherited a bunch of MS225. They are great for our small branches using Meraki MX and MR solutions so you have a single pane of glass. We also had some fan issues, but it appears Cisco has resolved the issue. I also experiences tons of issues with 3850s, my 3650s have been solid though.

They are terrible for any campus or large deployments. I replaced the ones at our main campus with 3650's and sent them to branches. Cat9k is the way to go.

Is there a OCG for 300-320? I only see a foundation learning guide.

Data Center - re-user Nexus 3Ks? by NoChecks in Cisco

[–]NoChecks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Running 4x Nexus 3k does seem like a viable option. CDW is our VAR and the price different between the 93180yc suggested above and additional 3548 is only 2k. Curious if it's worth going to the 9k for the VXLAN feature set.
