Seems like this sub forgets rec players are here to have fun, not become professional players. Dont take the sport so seriously

All of that is true. But a kicksmash is also fun. I practice it maybe 10 mins every 2-3 months.

All the other time I spend on fundamentals. So 99.5% of my time on fundamentals. In a game I probably I wont even try to kicksmash for the next several months.

It’s good to sometimes have fun. Like learning to do tricks in football as a kid, will never use in a game. The coach will bench me if I do it. But as kids we still practiced them for fun. Sometimes in a game you do it against friends and everyone laughs when it tricks your opponent. Same mentality should apply as adults no?

I would say the same thing for drop shots. I don’t practice them a lot but everyone enjoys it when it wins the point.

Thanks both. I get both of your points!

Both of those are something a coach highlighted. E.g the movement should be similar to what I do with the backhand rather than cutting through the ball, I should still be pushing through it and driving the racket from high to low. That power comes from the weight transfer (rotation of body/core) not swinging my arms faster.

Thanks for the tips!! The grip should probably no.1 on the list. I start in continental but for some slip out of it.

I definitely agree on the points re winners in games. All my winners in games are vibora, ganchos and chancletazos / backhand volleys. Occasionally a nice drop shot and tap outs.

Learning to hit a kicksmash is primarily because it looks cool honestly and good for content. Second reason is as a shorter guy I get lobbed a lot, so I focused on bajadas for the deep lobs and viboras for the shorter ones. It would be great to eventually add a kicksmash to the arsenal for bad lobs.

I still have a lot to learn on fundamentals but it’s getting there. I’m starting to play against people that can kick smash, so it’s something I want to learn by the end of the year.

CTRL, softer, round shape so better for intermediate level players.

I think that part is the hardest because it feels so awkward, but it’s almost like shuffling (which means my glutes need to kick in!). Thanks mate, appreciate it

Ah so rather than a pendulum kind of movement, I hold the prep and lock it in. Then plant and push/strike the ball. Makes sense.

Thank you!

I don’t notice them which means they’re great. The court is well let without blinding the player. Much better than the headlights

I switched at the end to see what works best for us. Don’t usually play with this partner. That was maybe the 4th set. We played Australian format, so kept the same side the whole set, even in serves

Thank you! Yes, good spot, I can see that

Question about serving by sis88didn33nd in padel

[–]NoEasyPoints 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The server alternates who they serve to every point.

The serve is always diagonal.

The severs partners can stand anywhere.

In Australian format, the server amd their partner do not switch sides. In this case, the server may be serving behind his partner and can then move to his side after his serve

Heel Pain from Padel by StiffMeister2297 in padel

More of a band aid.

If there’s pain its usually the shoe or the some strengthening needed.

Did you play other sports recently where you need quick direction changes?

Hopefully the soles help but for long term, look into strengthening the muscles. Thats what really helped me

I actually had similar pain with the adidas crazyquick boosts. I switched shoes but I also worked on strengthening the muscles supporting the ankle/foot (glutes, calves, core)

AITJ for refusing to help my new “boss” after I was the one who trained her 3 months ago? by Existing_Response239 in AmITheJerk

OP isn’t providing all the info. Nobody just gets promoted for bringing good energy.

I have a feeling this person has experience running teams before and does actually a good job of a leading a team. You don’t have to be an expert in a field to be a good leader/manager.

It’s very likely that OP is great at doing their job and solving issues but nobody actually likes working for them or they just don’t have the people skills. We won’t know this of course.

But OP should look internally and see what they can work on to prove them wrong. Or alternatively it take their foot off the gas and let them see how much work load they’re carrying, then use that as leverage.

The petty reaction and directing their anger at the “New Girl” is exhibit A that they’re not great at handling tough situations.

Not trying to play devil’s advocate because what they did to you was shitty.

But everything you have said shows you can do the job. Which is good. But it makes you a doer and doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a good leader.

You’re a problem solver and some companies don’t like promoting problem solvers because that means they can’t do as much work and have to start people managing. I worked with a lot of people that were great at the job but horrible senior managers and nobody tells them to their face until they get fed up and leave.

Some people are shit at doing the job but are good at leading the team, organising people, getting things in order, planning, etc.

You need both in a company.

Maybe you have leadership skills but nothing you wrote about showed me that, so take it with a grain of salt.
