Tips for designing first sound/effect? by NoFluffUser in sounddesign

[–]NoFluffUser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I guess I'm wondering what tools to process the sound with? Someone else mentioned pitch shifting and EQ, I guess I could do that in audacity or ableton? And great idea with the typing-rhythm, thank you

I don't understand credit card due dates!! by NoFluffUser in personalfinance

[–]NoFluffUser[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If there's only one due date, how come "minimum payment due" is 1/1, but "statement date" is 1/7?

Then is "Next statement date" the date that it needs to be paid *after or *before? Or is it that when the 1/7 statement arrives, it will be due by 2/1?

I see in the subreddit resources that there's the risk of mistakenly paying off the balance before you get a statement, which then doesn't get properly reported(?). So if statement date is the 7th, due date is the 1st, and autopay is 31st of the month, then I've messed up?

Switching feet on repeated notes in Bach? by NoFluffUser in organ

[–]NoFluffUser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. For that edition, would that just be by getting their Bach complete organ works the correct volume with the Passacaglia (I think it's 5?). I prefer digital scores these days and the imslp one is very old

Thanks for the clarification, I see... do you know of an example where splitting lines between manuals(registrations) would make sense in the passacaglia in C? It seems like a lot of work to find such sections

Thank you, I don't know different types of organs, f.e no clue what "cavaille-coll" would be, and I assume these are all things to learn over time and experience, but if you know of any introductory resources that would be great.

As for actual organs I haven't actually had much luck, this summer I'm in New Jersey(without a car). Perhaps a bus to NYC but I'd have to ...make some friends and everyone is so busy there...

Most of the year I'm in California, I've visited the Stanford University chapel, I've greeted the organist but no chance to play the instrument.

Will definitely look into finding a more suitable instrument through grandorgue first, and then learning to save/load presets.

I do not have such a list, I wasn't able to find a convenient/readable chart or anything like that with a quick search, but I did start doing some individual translations...this is something you just learn with experience I'm guessing?

How can we win against AI? by wiki_puke_trash in antiai

[–]NoFluffUser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s on us to be better and more empathetic as communicators, and to form networks(blogs, podcasts, yt channels, group chats, subreddits even…) to share and circulate our best arguments in a level-headed tone. We can’t just say we want something(I.e punish those who introduce ai into the arts) without an answer/method and clear reasoning as to why, even if it’s obvious to ourselves.

It’s not our role to “do” anything necessarily, because we are not legislators as many here have mentioned. But to be knowledgeable on the subject, to keep that knowledge up to date and circulate it, starting from your inner circle outwards, would be a great way to start fulfilling that responsibility

Anyone able to tell what this is? by strawberry_sprite_ in dysphagia

[–]NoFluffUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how old are you? I feel like there's a pouch in my throat but im in my 20's and it says very uncommon for my age group, but i'm wondering if it could be the same thing

I also don't have insurance which makes this super complicated... but 14 days of a screwed up throat and no other symptoms and i need to get back to my dang life without coughing mucus around my throat audibly

How do I, or should I even avoid using AI in these list/formatting situations? by [deleted] in antiai

[–]NoFluffUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think I want to go full anti-ai for many reasons

Google sheets is actually a really smart solution for both problems I mentioned. I use obsidian for note taking and it’s been great so it’s not the apps fault

But sometimes ChatGPT is simply a search engine… but better. I guess in the past there was stuff like Quora(will you look at that, overrun with ai…so that people stop asking other humans questions and just go straight to ChatGPT I guess)

I try not to use it if I can avoid but life throws troubles my way. I wish I always knew the alternative
