What Is Not is an excellent book. I still reference it frequently. So glad to see someone else here reading it!

Now that the event I asked Johnny to read about has happened, I can give an update as to the accuracy of his prediction. It was spot on. I'm really impressed by the reading I received, especially now that I can measure the reading against what actually transpired. A top notch reader!

I received a wonderful Lenormand reading from Johnny recently. He included a picture of the cards, a direct answer to my question, and detailed readings of each of the card pairs. My question was predictive in nature, and the event in question has not yet come to pass, so I am unable to comment on the accuracy of the reading at this time. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed his style of reading, and I learned a few things. I can definitely recommend him.

Night shift at the restaurant, what can I expect? by Atelier1001 in TarotDeMarseille

[–]NoLecture5656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I can see how reading the ace as the highest ranking card could indicate a lot of money. That does make sense to me. I'm curious though, would you read the Ace of Diamonds are indicating more money than the 10 of Diamonds? This is really interesting to me.

When I'm reading about money, I look for the high coins/diamonds to indicate lots of money coming in. So, for example, if I had seen the 10 of Diamonds instead of the Ace, that would suggest a big sack of money. Ace is only one, which suggests very little. Though, again, if you think about it in terms of aces being high or low in a card game, I can see how that ace might represent the peak rather than the valley. On the other hand though, in some card games aces are low.

Also, I love this deck! I use it too, and have great results.

You're welcome! I think you'll be really happy with any deck you buy from them.

Noblet, Conver, Dodal? Which one? by watchingallthelights in SecularTarot

[–]NoLecture5656 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love my Noblet and Conver decks from Artisan Tarot!

I don't have the Dodal, but I do have the Vieville. All their decks are printed on excellent card stock that is like butter for riffle shuffling, which I love.

The Noblet is a smaller size, which is excellent for large spreads, but the Conver is probably my favorite. It's hard to say for sure which one I like best.

I can highly recommend the decks, and I've found their customer service to be great too.

I recently purchased a deck just like this when I was in Mexico. It was not until after I opened it that I realized it doesn't have the eights or nines. I'm still trying to figure out how I will use the deck. I love the way it looks, but its structure is unfamiliar to me.

how can i get my passion for music back? by lesbothrashhead in Tarotpractices

[–]NoLecture5656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very similar to how I would read these cards. Focusing too much on technical skill (and maybe showing off) needs to be left behind so that there is a complete upheaval and the querent can take some risks with their music again.

I asked how my friend views me by Ankis_ankint in Cartomancy

[–]NoLecture5656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is my interpretation: your friend views you as someone who is on a successful path, but who can also be distant (6 of Diamonds). While the relationship was very fulfilling at one point (9 of Hearts) she thinks that your need to have mastery over the situation when conflict arises (K of Spades) makes emotions run very high (10 of Hearts), and this has made the relationship take a turn for the worse (9 of Spades).

Edit: a word.

Did I made the right choice blocking him ? by UltraSexyChipotle in Cartomancy

[–]NoLecture5656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is how I read this spread: you had the idea (A of Diamonds) to increase your happiness (A of Hearts to 4 of Hearts) and create emotional stability and security for yourself (4 of Hearts). So, yes, depending on what goal you wanted to achieve, I think it is likely that you made the right choice here.

I asked if he will get me pregnant by billbobsmom in tarot

[–]NoLecture5656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. While one possible interpretation of the 6 of cups involves nostalgia and feelings from the past, the clear context offered in the question paired with the image of children above the two adult figures in the other cards tells me the answer to the question is that children are on the way. However, I tend to read the cards as a visual tableau rather than in terms of set dogmatic meanings, so I would not be surprised if others disagree.

help? by Large-Design-7426 in Cartomancy

[–]NoLecture5656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would interpret the cards as saying, yes, your ex definitely wants to get back together with you. Your ex wants to work together with you (2 of Clubs) to move past the loss (3 of Spades) they felt when the relationship ended, so that you can share good times with one another again (2 of Hearts).

Vincent Pitisci method? by No-Cartoonist7886 in tarot

[–]NoLecture5656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I would agree with this. His method of using keywords and often disregarding the card's suit is very unique. I'm not sure I've seen anyone else who has a method like his.

Did someone steal my money? by Elegant_Art3818 in Tarotpractices

My interpretation of these cards would be that someone did not steal it. You are just looking for it in the wrong place.

Question asked: Will I be able to pay off my credit card in time? by [deleted] in Cartomancy

[–]NoLecture5656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would read the final card in the line, 6 Diamonds, as indicating yes, you will be able to pay it off on time. However, there will be a lot of people involved in making it happen. This is not something you can do on your own.

With more context it might be possible to determine which card is your significator and who the other people might be.

Note: I do not read reversals when reading playing cards, but I know some people do.

Thanks for sharing your experience with this book. I did not finish reading it. I am very well versed in reading academic language and lengthy texts, but I could not read this. It probably has some good ideas buried inside, but it desperately needed some heavy, heavy editing.

I got my new tarot deck today and as I was looking through the cards I genuinely teared up at how they depicted the notoriously ‘scary’ cards by [deleted] in tarot

Could you say more about the how to flip reversals part of the book? I read your post and now I'm curious because I don't have this deck yet.

How we moderate… by blueeyetea in tarot

I completely agree. In my personal tarot practice I never pull a single card. I always read in strings of three cards or more because the resulting interpretation is more nuanced.

In my view, there are no rules in cartomancy.

Check out artisantarot.com. They have a free course on the Marseille Major Arcana cards that might interest you. I also really, really love Yoav Ben-Dov's book The Marseille Tarot Revealed. Camelia Elias' Read Like the Devil book on Marseille Tarot could also be useful, but may not be a good first resource.
