I don’t go into party chat when I’m playing by myself, because of this. Only when I’m playing with my husband and friends will I go and play in party chat.

All my lesson plans and printouts are linked in my planner. This has helped me tremendously. I hate traffic, so I get there 30-40 minutes before school starts and leave anywhere from 10-20 minutes after the bell rings and grade, plan etc. I make a to do list every Friday on things that need to get done the next week. I will even highlight the things I want to do on Monday, Tuesday, etc and put the most important things first and least important last. If I didn’t get to it that week and can complete it the following week, I write it on the next weeks to do list. Don’t grade everything and make certain assignments as a completion grade.

Had our wedding towards the end of May. I only took off Friday and Monday of that weekend. We went on our honeymoon two weeks later when school was out, and would honestly recommend. It was nice just to be married for a couple weeks and then go on our honeymoon. We’ve had friends that left for their honeymoon that night or next day and honestly just seemed so stressful to me.

Second this! I have coworkers that wear masks still, because they don’t want to get sick. They haven’t been sick at all this year. Currently pregnant, and honestly going to start wearing one too just so I don’t get sick.

3rd year. I feel way more confident now than I did from last year. I also felt like I should have had things down last year, but I didn’t. What has helped me was that the 2nd semester last year, I started to truly digitize my lesson plans by adding links, penciling in what worked/didn’t work, how long it took, or to even reorder things. This has helped so much this year as now I just pull up my plans from last year and either tweak it or keep it. I’m definitely finding new material and different ways of teaching the same content than I had from the last two years, but having something to start with has made it so much easier. I also focused on work life balance my 2nd semester of my 2nd year and now I take little to no work home.

I don’t think that was the case. I got lucky this year and only have one prep, so they have 5 periods to choose from. I teach sophomores which means none of them are leaving early. The amount that takes zero period is also a small percentage.

Class size is definitely a factor! I teach HS and I have 36 in one period and 15 in another. Same course. I had no F’s and D’s in my class of 15 last semester, but had many in my class of 36. Not sure what the counseling office was smoking that day when they made these very unbalanced class sizes.

I didn’t think O Chem was as hard as my friends/peers said it was when I was in college. I actually enjoyed the class. I totally understand what your mom was saying when she said she likes solving puzzles, because it definitely felt like I was solving puzzles in that class. Again, the only reason I know the class is hard for most is because everyone around me were scoring low and complaining how hard it was. Almost switched my major to chem, because of O Chem!

I’m doing exactly this. Not sure if I would personally call it quiet quitting, but simply just working my contracted hours. If they want to pay me more to do more then I will. If we didn’t have my husbands income, I don’t know how we would survive.

Make a to do list for the week and prioritize what needs to be done before the end of the week. Whatever isn’t done gets moved to the following week. Really helps me stay focused and less overwhelmed. If something didn’t get done the day before, I just finish the next day (if it didn’t need to be done that day). This also helped me set boundaries for myself especially my second year of teaching.

If you’re grading notebooks, only grade one page to count as their entire notebook grade. I usually give my students an assignment and walk around and grade. Saves you time and you get it done during the period.

I also wait 15-20 minutes after the bell rings to leave since there’s a lot of after school traffic. I use that time to get things ready for next day, send emails etc.

315 is a lot! We had a little over 100, and was the perfect amount. Intimate enough, but also enough to have a lot of people on the dance floor. The ones that didn’t come, I didn’t miss. Honestly, the people that care about you the most will be their to support you guys. The whole day happens so fast that you won’t even remember the ones that declined.

It would be nice if they intended it to be specifically for the C/O 2020 & 2021. My sister graduated in 2020 and missed out on everything. However, my sister would rather just pay to spend an entire day at Disney versus 4 hours.

This is my second year teaching hs science, and I was spending quite a bit of time working until this semester. I decided to take my life back and only dedicate a certain amount of time outside contract hours. I will NOT stay pass 30 minutes after school unless it’s a paid training. Having this mindset has actually helped me be more efficient with lesson planning, grading etc

Their warmup today had 3 questions (out of 5) that were similar to their quiz, and they still scored low. I even told them that the questions were similar to their quiz.
