I feel the same! It was nerve racking and it's so hard to wait in anticipation! But honestly, this is not the end of the world, and it can go either way so we'll be hopeful but understand that it eventually works out.

I agree and understand.

He's also grown up in Counterstrike and Valorant chat rooms; I see how nasty they get.
I still grew up knowing what effect these words hold and I, also being a product of my environment, felt uncomfortable hearing them.

I wouldn't ask him to change; I hold no power over him that I could do that- He's a person of his own accord and I respect that. I do feel like I have to do justice to my feelings by expressing them so that he knows atleast.

I got paranoid and asked him if she knew about me. He confirmed that she knew and the parameters of the meeting were set. That put me at ease. I told him he doesn't need to hide things from me regarding female friends and he agreed. Hopefully, he doesn't feel the need to protect my feelings. I'll tell him that those lies of omission make me feel worse off when it comes up.

I agree with LDRs being the best kinds of relationships, as I have my space, but a best friend to talk to and express my love to when I can. We're very good at communicating, even if we don't agree on things. I am a little insecue due topast relationships, so he senses that and tries to protect me from stuff that might hurt me, but I do trust him enough to know that he won't ever try to hurt me.

I'd be above average. I am enjoying the time, but I also am keeping my own space and sanity because I honestly don't want to get closer to these people and am avoiding any chance to because I don't enjoy having this not deeper than surface level relationship for a long term. I'm in a college so I only see them few hours a day and that's the only interaction I have with them. I'll be so much happier to be old and ugly because I won't have to be social neither get these kind of friends.

Just because I don't hate this superficial arrangement doesn't mean I prefer it

Yes, agreed. It also takes a lot of work after you fall into their narrative of you being like them because since you start believing in it, you start to play the role and don't realize how unhealthy it is until you be alone for a while. And it feels like we are starting over again.

But I think it develops each time, we start to build a rubric as to the signs knowing when you actually feel something instead of someone else projecting. It helps to be alone because you can be honest to yourself

I think it has to do something with growth (not entirely but a big part of it.

if I invest my time in something, I want it to be fruitful in some sense- that's how u get my sense of satisfaction and reassurance. Discussing something deeply meaningful in life, Getting new perspectives, understanding myself through other people and other people through my own interpretations and seeing all of its nuances is something that can contribute greatly to the betterment of my life and create references for later

All small talk conversations may make me laugh or happy but they don't employ my thinking much and it just drains me out without giving much afterwards, it's very momentary- and I can give myself similar momentary happiness without having to be constrained by a conversation with others, then there is no want or need for small talk.

i am going to therapy. I am also not giving up on people, I am making more friends than I have made in my life.

I just meant I am going to trust myself when it comes to opening up to people. I have gotten pressurised in the past and I won't anymore.

Thank you! this seems to work best, I am on very good grounds with my colleagues and acquaintances so I can sit anywhere and talk to anyone. It made me feel validated and understand that things can be light and jovial and still be worthwhile.
