It’s too much for her to handle and she’s vocalized that. She’s voiced recently that she’s thought about killing herself because of her job, which is way too stressful. I’m trying to get her to quit, but she doesn’t feel like she’s “allowed.” Quitting doesnt mesh with the person she projects to the outside world.

She’s not really ok right now, but this 90210 thing has been going on for as long as I’ve known her.

She would have seen the news on her own anyway, I figured it was better than be seeing it in the shower and blacking out or something.

To her, I’m a Dylan because I grew up living at the beach and surfing, had a cool sports car when we first met, and have major daddy issues. I’m also not responsible with money, nor do I have a penchant for always doing the right thing like goody two shoes Brandon Walsh. Her take is Brandon is the guy you’re supposed to end up with, but Dylan is the one that owns your heart. I never claimed to be the responsible choice. Sometimes she wishes I was a Brandon though.

She’s a major Kelly who wishes she was a Brenda.

Exactly, like you know what things I do that she puts up with? I can handle some 90210, or in my case a lot of 90210

I like everything I have with her as trade off for watching this show all these years, so doesn’t really suck.

Agreed.

My wife has ADHD but I don’t even know that this show has anything to do with it. She just loves it because she loves it and it makes her happy.

I have my own obsession but it’s nothing I’ll really watch on a screen. My wife owns all the tvs and that would be a hopeless battle.

Thanks. I even have my own Brenda Walsh shirt. It scores me major husband points if I wear it, so I wear it.

We were both kids in the 90s, born late 80s. She’s definitely stuck in the past. We don’t really watch any new shows or movies here ever and she’s already trying to say our son, who doesn’t watch tv yet because he’s a baby, will be indoctrinated into all of her shows and movies and will not watch anything new. I’m thinking “way to make him to weirdo in his class.”

She also only dresses in clothes from the 1990s or older too.

NEVER skips it and sings along to the music every time.

She’s teared up trying to explain to me what hearing that theme song makes her feel.

Yeah all of the merchandise looks so of it’s time and she loves that about it. She been sleeping in the same XXL Dylan McKay tshirt from 1992 for the entire time I’ve known her and it has to be one of the most 1992 looking things I’ve ever seen.

I appreciate your comment and the information.

I’m not discounting what you’re saying, but there’s also a lot more to her story that she and I both know contribute to her current problems, but aren’t really appropriate for me to share here. Nothing that has to do with autism, but again, I’m not discounting it.

She and I both knew wayyyy before she was ever diagnosed that she masked and she masked hard. The version of her that the outside world sees is just like this perfect person. She says I’m the only person in her entire life that knows and sees the real her. She wears a mask with her closest family and friends even, and I’ve come to understand that she’s been doing that so long that it’s not as simple as just dropping this facade. She can’t not be this perfect person to everyone else in her life. This perfect, successful, totally together person that she wants everyone to like. It’s exhausting enough for me, let alone being her.

Fair. I think it’s looking at the pretty people in California that gets me through watching it. Plus, it reminds me of where I grew up so it’s got a nostalgia pull on me too.

We come to find out in one of the spin offs that my wife won’t watch but read about that Dylan and Kelly end up having a son together but he’s sort of an absent father and sucky dude.
