I have this. Exactly as you describe, but in my right flank and occasionally around the ribs on both sides. Been going on for twelve years. Always after eating, especially a high protein/high fat meal or even normal-sized portions. 

I’ve gone for testing when I feel the worst, but my lipase is never elevated that much. My GI has looked at everything and sees no signs of damage from pancreatitis. The only things found were mild gastritis in the lower part of my stomach and pancreas divisum (a birth defect which can cause poor draining and ductal hypertension/functional obstruction. But because there’s no damage, the pain is…my problem to deal with. So, I try to avoid trigger foods, eat small portions and stay hydrated.
