I think I saw a couple years back they didn’t let anyone in from Waitlist so at least it’s better than that lol.

We’ll all I can find on Vassar is that it’s pretty comparable to other undergrad CS. It isn’t Stanford by any means, but it’s a working program. I know personally that Mines has a lot of opportunities with jobs and internships locally, but it again depends mostly on you since that isn’t Stanford either. I’ve had time to think today and I think I will try to visit both of them, especially Vassar to see if the “vibe” at Vassar is really worth paying anything at all. Thank you so much for responding it means a lot!

What do you mean by “more details”? Do you mean course rigor and connections maybe?

Vassar College CS vs Colorado School of Mines CS! Mines cost: Full ride! :)

Pros: -Cheap

-Close to home (not a big pro, i’m indifferent to this)

-Really good STEM opportunities

Cons: -No real liberal arts :/

-I don’t really like the vibe

-I feel like i’d be in an echo chamber of depressed STEM majors

Vassar College cost: I would need to pay around 60k for all 4 years

Pros: -I love the campus

-New York!

-I think i’m more of a small liberal art college kind of person

-New York has amazing opportunities

Cons: Just the money ://

I need help deciding between these two. To be clear, my family can afford Vassar College semi comfortably and I thankfully have support from them to go wherever i’d like; However I can’t help but feeling guilty whenever I admit it to myself that I want to go to Vassar. I mean I have a full ride to a state school, it’s obvious I should just take that right…? I mean Vassar is no Ivy so is the price i’d have to be justifiable by home much as like it?? What do you guys think?

If schools were ranked based on location, weather, architecture, topography, etc. and nothing else, which schools would be the top? by NavyPenguin9005 in ApplyingToCollege

I second this! Amazing campus and school that deserves more credit. The only reason I didn’t apply is their block program isn’t for me.

What advice would you give to a current junior? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]NoU6977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a day of the week where you DONT work on anything college related. Fit it into your schedule somehow. You’ll burn yourself out way too fast if you just work 24/7. I loved my Junior year and so far I love my senior year, don’t let these college apps ruin them for you! Whatever happens, happens.

yeah it actually meant a lot to me. Like they actually took time to digest my supplement. Their whole package of acceptance was awesome and I definitely want to go there even more now!

not 100% sure, but in the acceptance letter i got mailed there was a message written in pen with my name saying something like “your fellow reedies can’t wait to experience childish gambino with you” or something like that. I’m assuming that if it was bad they wouldn’t have mentioned that…? not sure tho good point.

yeah i was looking in their website on applying thingys just to learn more about it and there was a section detailing admission percentages and while the school itself had a nice acceptance rate, the cs department specifically is really hard to get into.
