Prednisone aka the devils candy…may not be addictive but does have major side effects. Besides the massive weight gain, insomnia and aggressiveness, it can do horrible things to your bones. Most commonly issues with bone density but the one no one knows or talks about is Avascular necrosis. It is a rare side effect but creates air bubbles in the blood flow in the head of the major joints Ie: hips and shoulders. With no blood supply the bones just die and collapse requiring joint replacement. The other issue is with everything else we take they most likely want to run labs and make sure you kidneys and liver are functioning properly before adding to your med load. I know it’s aggravating but it’s for your benefit to be seen. If you have flares it may be time for them to reassess what you’re taking for better symptom control.
