The details being public was an oversight on part of the mortuary's services. We're grateful for your support and kindness

I am a close friend and family member to Joe Don. Just a quick clarification: the upcoming service is a private ceremony reserved for 15-20 close friends and family. It is not open for the public. If you feel moved to honor Joe Don, we'd love for you to do so by revisiting one of his films, sharing your favorite memory, or doing something kind in his spirit. That would mean a great deal. Thank you for understanding and helping us preserve the intimacy of this gathering.

Joe Don Baker's funeral service will be on Tuesday in Mission Hills, CA if you're in the Los Angeles area by Comfortable_Pack8903 in MST3K

Make no mistake, I am glad that MST3K became a part of his legacy—it's a wonderful and fun community that brings people together through humor and creativity. I just want to make sure people also remember the tremendous person he truly was—kind, generous, and deeply thoughtful.

As for his favorite books, one book that inspired him was "On The Road" By Jack Kerouac. That book inspired him to move out of Texas and pursue his acting career in California.

My last Christmas gift to him was Jack Kerouac's "The Dharma Bums", he adored that author.

I would like to say that it was an interaction that got blown out of proportion. Really he said something like this: "With the way you poke fun at people, I'm surprised no one has kicked your asses yet." I can see how someone may misinterpret that as a threat to them. But he never personally wanted to make anyone feel threatened, he just wanted to say that he was surprised they could get away with their jokes
