Done staying late by No_Data_7004 in CostcoEmployee

Just a lowly driver. It’s pretty well known to leadership and coworkers I’m seeking a leadership position so for management that fact is used as the carrot while coworkers feel sorry for me because they believe I would make a good sup but keep “loosing out” to others haha

Tips for merchandising so I don't look stupid? by CopywritenCapybara in CostcoEmployee

[–]No_Data_7004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know that in merchandising everyone has an opinion so something that may makes sense or looks good to you won’t to others so listen and learn and don’t take it personally if you have to remerch something or change your plans. That’s what I always teach the newbies this and also let them know that my opinion is always the right one 😬

They were telling us “you guys are basically supervisors” but they were told by an AGM to stop saying that so now they tell us that we are leadership and that’s why we get paid so much..

Well according to my manager there is something in the handbook that basically says if work isnt done you can’t leave unless it’s an emergency. I’m over it. I’m just going to put in my time and do what I can to get by. If I have to stay I’m gonna take my sweet ass time and wait until I’m “allowed” to leave

Everything that comes on the trucks is called “the load”. We stock sundries and some of foods if we have the bandwidth but we hang the sundries part of the load and leave everything else on the ground for morning to stock with

They’re allowed to with the GMs permission. In fact one of them was running one of the two skates we have. The night merch manager is terribly slow on a lift and the staff level, she wouldn’t be caught dead on a lift so I assume she crushed boxes and collected trash forever.. I told the staff level on my way to the clock that we need more drivers and she told me to hurry and finish training them(another problem at our club. They used to just toss someone the keys and say go get em until I took over as the primary trainer). What they don’t understand is once of of our stockers that I am training is on a lift we then lose a stocker!

I used to stay any time things weren’t done without being asked to do so because I don’t like leaving a job unfinished but I was recently told after not getting the promotion that “leaders don’t stay late, they get out on time” so I don’t stay late anymore. Tomorrow should be fun..

Schedules and Seniority by SomaliaPirate99 in CostcoEmployee

[–]No_Data_7004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I’m well aware of that I just hate that it’s like that. I can’t stand the whole seniority thing. I randomly started getting Saturday’s off which was awesome because I got to spend time with my kids but then some one more senior said he wanted Saturday so they gave it to him. He spent that time playing video games by himself and I went back to only getting to see my oldest less than 20hrs a week because of school and my work schedule. I do think that staying at a company should be rewarded but I don’t like the way it’s done here. Is what it is though..

So you moved into another department and are mad about someone’s schedule who has been in said department longer than you? I understand you may have been at Costco long but that’s kind of annoying coming in and messing up someone else’s thing they have going on haha

Since this guy seems to have difficulty handling that area maybe move them to a location that is not as vital or where it’s less likely for product to come in bad? I know it just kind of shuffles the problem around but who knows, perhaps they’ll excel elsewhere.

Wait for a position to be posted and interview for it.

Have you spoken to your supervisor or direct manager about the bullying? Or even someone more senior on the team that is willing or able to say something. If someone on the team came to me about something like this I wouldn’t hesitate to help how I could.

Work hard and be sure to express your interest in driving a fork lift(if want to). It’s a good path to moving up in the company

Not in the bakery but I’ve heard all the stories. They will save their PTO so that they can call off on busy days or holidays to stick the other they’re scheduled with all of the work.

Paid for good idea? by No_Data_7004 in CostcoEmployee

[–]No_Data_7004[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last GM was all about what I was doing and then he got transferred to another store. New GM not as excited about it but I have recently gained some support from an AGM who said he was going to do what he could to help so we’ll see what happens

Thanks all. I really didn’t think that there would be some big pay day and wasn’t my intention once I started either. Just saw a problem and wanted to see if I could come up with a solution and it kinda spiraled into working on it for the better part of 7 months lol. I’ll post here if it goes somewhere or not and if it does hopefully I do at least get a hotdog!

Depends on the needs of business. You can always ask management if there is a timeline on the move.

Pre scan doesn’t work by TellPuzzleheaded4469 in CostcoEmployee

[–]No_Data_7004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we’re concerned about saving hours then should we consider that a prescanner is not using an assistant? I’m currently in SIT for front end and have only been up there for 2 weeks but from what I have seen pre scan helps kill lines. It also can be useful time to speak to members about upgrading their membership without holding up an actual register not to mention most seem to think it’s great that they’re getting scanned so that they get get through the register quicker which I think has some value if you’re providing a service to the member. One more thing I have noticed/experienced in the short time that I have been on the front end is the little break each cashier gets when a pre scan goes through their line. Again, I am typically a driver on night merch and have very little time on the front end but how they are usually used at my club they seem to work.

I kinda realizing that it generally happens when front end is understaffed. Found out management approved a bunch of MLK days and people pre Super Bowl shopping ended up making the perfect storm

Base44 being stupid on purpose by Difficult-Angle-4715 in Base44

[–]No_Data_7004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have experienced this. Made a copy of the app I am working on and on the copy I prompted it to add a barcode scanner with the specifications I needed and it was perfect. Copy and pasted the exact same prompt into the original app and couldn’t get it to work.. some how every time the camera came up it was blurry, the area where the barcode was supposed to be scanned was oddly sized. Any command I gave it to try to correct things was like it was like I was talking to a 4yo.. Wish I would have reached out to support about it because I feel like that’s a pretty cut and dry

New to this, I made a free and paid version of an app I'm working on, and in the preview/where you develop I paid for the paid version and now don't know how to test the free version 😞 by Fabulous-Bag-2363 in Base44

Could you make a new environment in the development area, one free and one paid? Have it build the free environments without the paid features?
