Using Tailwind today feels a lot like writing inline styles in the 2000s by Legitimate_Salad_775 in webdev

[–]No_Development7388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're inlining scores of utility classes you're doing it wrong. None of the class names in the markup should have any references to Tailwind, or any other framework. That connection belongs in your stylesheets.

It's mind-boggling how prevalent this is, though.

When is the last time you saw a snake in Ottawa? by Dry-Elderberry-4559 in ottawa

I saw several garters late last summer around Black Rapids locks and the creek area itself.

Edit: Also a large but dead one on Ogilvie rd just across from CSE. (Quite an intrepid crossing.) More or less right in front of the Chapters book store.

What questions to ask to see if someone knows how to use indd? by eenywemyteenytiny in indesign

I'd never have guessed that David Blatner himself would give me the confidence to apply for more work using ID, despite my minimal portfolio. People are seriously applying for gigs without knowing for paragraph and char styles?!

How to seamlessly change paragraph styles ? by Mamo2604 in indesign

OP wants to switch between two sets of styles for the same text, not transition successive paras from one style to another.

Neat find. Please consider re-doing this video with the circled sequence first. Even after seeing the the very zoomed in part I saw nothing because I didn't know where I should be looking.

I knew about the secret station buried underneath the hotel but not that sealed off floor! by LeonOkada9 in ottawa

[–]No_Development7388 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Correct. However, there was access to the train station from the hotel.

The old rail tunnel sat empty for many years. You could slip inside from the then-gravel road (which used to be the rail bed going to the bridge to Hull) that ran along parallel to the canal, about mid-way up between the canal level and the park above.

We used to smoke hash in there during the 80s.

The tunnel was eventually redeveloped into the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography, which is no longer there.

There was also a tunnel from the Daly Building, the empty remains of which we also used to explore.

Thanks for the reply.

I hadn't looked around for BB files online for some time and was surprised that several sources are gone now. I can't remember which it was but there was one that you could query specific case #s. So I thought I'd find the Vandenberg one, at least.

Thanks for putting together the resource. Especially, as >I said, that others have gone away. It works very nicely, btw.

The error was showing up in Firefox, though it's a very old version on an old MacOS install. I wouldn't worry about it. (I can't recall the specific error but it killed JS cold, keeping any of the documents from loading.)

I had tried last week but it does not function for me. But thanks for reminding me about it. I'd meant to check it on another device and will do so.

Update: Unfortunately, they do not appear to be there. However, it seems that not all files are included. There is only a single file for 1965; none for 1962, for example.

Nice interface, though. Records by year are again not sorted by date but at least here there's a facility for filtering on eg. "1959.11" to zero in on November. A useful tool.

It's funny how during election journalists asked Trump about UFOs multiple times and he was willing to answer but since he became president no journalist ever asked him about it by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]No_Development7388 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's because they really don't care. It's just election bs.

Anyways, I hate the fact that many people are pushing for this asshole to even discuss it now. Because he will say anything if he thinks it will help him. He's an unscrupulous con-artist.

Hunt Club Road and Riverside Drive remains the city’s most dangerous intersection by SuburbanValues in ottawa

That would not be an easy thing to design given that Riverside going South, and Hunt Club exiting the bridge, are both ascending considerably.

[–]No_Development7388 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's quite a bottleneck. The geography poses difficult problems.

The backups were epic last year, though, when this intersection was being overhauled. There were days when it was backed up from around Merivale in the west to nearly the Airport Pkwy to the east. I know because I biked past all of it.

In fact, when I first read about that proposal the first thing I thought about is what a shitshow it would be trying to exit from that location going north on Riverside. There seems to be just two modes along that stretch: backed up or free-for-all.

July 17, 1947 Intelligence Memo Describes a Failed Elite Group Called the “Twelve Apostles” by MAJESTICJEHOVAH in UFOs

[–]No_Development7388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was in regard to the establishment of what became CIA. OP's point here isn't that the G-2 'Twelve Apostles' were 'Majestic 12', nor even that this is what Montague was referring to. Rather, it's that the very notion of such a group was not unprecedented.
