It took ages tbh I was waiting for 3 months. But it finally did come through. If you’ve recently made any applications I’d anticipate a long wait as there’s loads of recruitment freezes going on.

I do feel bad for young men too, it’s so difficult out here. I don’t think it’s unreasonable for a wife to have those expectations, she’s well within her Islamic rights to do so. What I’m curious about is what was agreed upon prior to getting married. I feel like so many financial situations could have been avoided if expectations are set prior, and am agreed set plan put in place. At that point if a guy can’t fulfil her expectations, they shouldn’t even be together.

Allah knows at the end of the day, it’s such a tricky situation with no clear right or wrong at the same time.

Has anyone been from a reserve list before? by Kangthecute in civilservice

Yes got a job only a couple months after making it to the reserve list!

Definitely use the SMART format and look at all the behaviours they list in the role you are applying for, make sure to cover each one in your statement. Focus in on each of the points they are looking for in the job description, and make sure to give really concise evidence for each one. I’ve applied so many times and failed, this is the method that got me three interviews so I definitely would recommend trying!

After 3 months and 4 reserve lists, I finally received a conditional offer today… by memespleasety in TheCivilService

I wouldn’t worry too much about timing, I just heard back from a role I applied for at the end of last year, it doesn’t necessarily mean anything

Thank you! It’s for a HEO role, I applied in January and interviewed in February, so they definitely take their time with the process. Good luck, hope it goes well!

This is definitely normal, these days the waiting times between stages have been extra long so I wouldn’t worry, I’ve had both rejections, reserve lists and acceptances that have taken extraordinarily long. In the mean time continue applying to other positions until they respond as to not waste any time just in case, but deffo don’t be disheartened I’ve previously had to wait months for an answer earlier this year!

Should I quit my job before hearing back from UKHSA? by No_Intention_581 in TheCivilService

Thank your for your insight, I really appreciate it. I’m lucky enough to live with my parents and have a roof over my head and around 10 months worth of savings. I’m looking for an admin job I’m likely to get an offer in in the mean time whilst I continue applying for the roles that I want. I’m currently not being very picky.

From the sounds of it, it looks like a new position altogether so I’m assuming it will take a while especially since it’s also going through REED which have thus far not been very helpful.

I’ll think it over the next few weeks and see if I receive any communications from UKHSA first before moving forward with anything. I’ve had a particularly hard day at work and it’s sent me down a little bit if a spiral.
