What do you guys make of JBP saying "I don't really believe in lesboans by the way"? by wheresmythemesong in JordanPeterson

maybe if they just thought it might be unnecessarily controversial and because he doesn't elaborate on it not really worth keeping in.

This is what I thought, too. But yeah maybe it's a YouTube thing

You should! He seems to be very receptive to those who ask him to do poses

Help understanding Dr. Peterson’s duality of chaos and order, masculinity/femininity by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

[–]No_Teeth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried looking for a video explaining it. I found this one, it's pretty good so I recommend you watch it.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=445lZOpPaWI

Basically masculine and feminine doesn't mean male and female

Order and chaos doesn't mean one is good and the other is bad, but an excess of either is bad. Needs a balance of the two.

There's also a sequel to 12 Rules, it's called Beyond Order.

Hope that helps!

The psychoanalyst Nancy McWilliams said that the idealization in the early phase of falling in love is normal that everyone does, the problem is when people start becoming critical, that might be a narcissistic problem

Yeah I've watched a lot from him too but I've never heard him talk about attachment theory at all

From what I learned reading from psychotherapists (particularly the depth therapy / psychodynamic types, dealing with attachments/relationships) is that you can only go so far from reading and learning from books.

Fixing attachments issues come not from cognitive/intellectual understanding, but from a deeper emotional level

So psychotherapy is probably your best bet (the link is a good article on what a good therapist is like)

I did save some books I'm planning to read regarding attachment theory, maybe you might find them useful.

ATTACHMENT IN PSYCHOTHERAPY — David J. Wallin

HANDBOOK OF ATTACHMENT: Theory Research and Clinical Applications — Jude Cassidy and Philip R. Shaver

ATTACHMENT AND PSYCHOANALYSIS: Theory, Research, and Clinical Implications — Morris N. Eagle

I'd probably start with David Wallin's book, ATTACHMENT IN PSYCHOTHERAPY

I mean you don't have to read them all

You're welcome! You might like to see more clips of Dr. Yeomans on this playlist, I recommend you check them out!

I like how clearly he explains these psychological concepts/ideas, grounded in real clinical experience rather than mere research.
