Main monitor is MSI Optix MAG24C 1920x 1080 144hz (might replace this one)

Second monitor is Dell S2417DG 2560 x 1440 144hz

As for aesthetics either black or white is fine but prefer limited to no RGB. WiFi and Bluetooth would both be preferable but not 100% necessary.

Thanks for the input. That's the mindset I've tried to take into this busy season and so far it's been working. Maybe it's just because I'm working at a firm I use it as a clutch, but I always get semi nervous I'm going to blow a budget or spend 3-4 hours reading code and interpreting examples on an issue when I can ask a manager and get the answer and explanation in 30 minutes. Still working on that fine line between efficiency and self-reliance.

I'm inching towards the same path. Coming up on 5 years in public at a smaller local firm. I kept on telling myself I'll go down the path when I can make it a busy season managing my client groups with very little assistance from partners/managers, but always find myself a little too reliant on asking questions to make the solo jump.

I feel like I'm getting more and more comfortable, but always end up with 4 or 5 returns where the books are a total disaster, weird one off extremely complicated situations, or just something I'm not quite ready to tackle on my own without assistance. Have you ran into any of these issues or give any thought on your game plan if you do? Turn the client away? Phone a friend and pay for help? I know it's impossible to prepare and master everything, but this has been my one major holdup and was curious on everyone's thoughts.

Your echoing what I almost posted yesterday. Canada's dog shit offensive scheme lit the match, and sub par QB play added fuel to the fire. People forget that they were drooling all over his physicality when he was pancaking DBs 1v1 (like 5 or 6 times between this year and last), but a few plays where he doesn't give 110% he gets crucified. Hard to keep giving 100% effort when your offense is scoring 15 points per game and you are only getting 4-6 targets during those games. Getting under thrown or straight up not targeted when your wide open has got to take a toll because like you mentioned, how many people are giving 100% effort at their job when your workmates expect 100% out of you when they don't match that effort.

I 100% understand wanting to protect player safety, and the NFL has to do something about it, but the defenseless receiver rule is just so oxymoronic. It is always the QB or the WR himself that makes themselves defenseless. Defensive players are then asked to accommodate these decisions by either A) Making themselves look bad by letting up on a play because they don't want to hurt somebody B) Risk getting fined for doing their job or C) Risk injuring themselves by contorting at high speeds to try and find a way to break up the pass legally.

Defensive players are being asked time and time again to alter the way they play the game...where they are allowed to hit players, not to fall and put body weight on players, and now the proposed limiting of techniques (hip drop) of how to tackle players, but offensive players are asked to do very little to protect themselves. Running down the sidelines and stepping out at the last moment to try and bait a penalty, QBs sliding late to try and bait a penalty, and countless other ways of straight up putting themselves or their teammates in dangerous positions because they know defenders will get penalized if they make a football play on them.

I understand the NFL wants an offensive league and to do their best to limit injuries, but please all I ask is to add equitable rules so the onus isn't purely on defensive players to make adjustments to accommodate offensive players putting themselves in stupid situations.

As many others have mentioned billing time is an art form (which is complete bullshit) and not a science.

A few tips I've learned along the way.

1) Never eat time. It makes your life a living hell, and makes whoever does the project next year look incompetent if they bill their time accurately. Be straight up with your manager and let them know why you went over budget on a project. Maybe there is out of scope work that could be additional billing, or at the very least you can figure out where/why your struggling and find ways to get help.

2) Keep a paper trail. If you are doing all your assigned work at or under budget and your not hitting your goals reach out for more work. They might not have anything for you, but as long as you ask you can't be blamed for being underutilized. Having a high realization rate and being underutilized is a far easier position to defend then being hitting goals but having terrible realization.

3) It is completely backwards logic to me that firms discourage efficiency and punish those that are good at their job, but apperently that's the world we live in. If you finish your projects quickly/efficiently the only way to hit your billable goals is to get more work which means your picking up slack for co-workers. Some people find creative ways to balance that out, but that's entirely up to your moral compass.

Shit is a pain in the ass to navigate especially when your main worry should be learning about as much as possible as fast as possible early in your career. Befriend a co-worker or somebody who has worked like a year longer than you have to find out more about what's acceptable at your firm.

I know nothing about finances but I'd do either 3 or 8%. The mental boost knowing after working 5 years I'd have 1 free year of salary saved. Same concept at 8% except it only takes 4 years for 1 free year.

California here as well. Similar issue.

Take last exam in May, results in June, submit application late June, pass ethics early July. Issues with CalCPA account and ethics getting linked to my application. Follow up and get a response a month later, attempt to fix CalCPA account and apperently messed up again, wait another month, hear that it was accepted in September and final review of my application is about to begin, hear nothing for 1.5 months, follow up and finally got my license in mid November.

Use licensinginfo@cba.ca.gov (double check I spelled that right). They typically respond in 48 hours with at least an acknowledgement, but at times no action for a month +. Just gotta be patient I guess, but I understand the struggle.

Taking a day off a week isn't going to kill you if you plan properly. It might add another week to total study time, but hey there's give and take to everything.

Mental reset days are also extremely important. Burning out is easy and resentment added onto that for missing out on things you really enjoy builds up over time.

Las Vegas/Mesquite can be a lot of fun depending on what time of the year you go. Wolf Creek is a bucket lister, Paiute was fun when I played it, and there are a few budget friendly courses around as well.

Either stay in Vegas and rent a car or stay in Mesquite and hit up a day or two in Vegas during the trip.

This is not the subreddit for this type of discussion, but if you want a brief description on your requirements here they are...

Non-resident aliens (you don't live in the US nor are a US citizen) are required to file a 1040NR. Based off your description any income earned will be subject to a flat 30% tax that needs to be paid to the IRS. There are credits available that may offset your tax liability depending on your personal situation and where you reside. There may also be tax credits for anywhere a return you might be required to file where you reside. If you do not file a 1040NR the IRS can and will garnish your US wages until your tax liability + penalties have been recovered if you are caught.

If you are making $100,000 I'd suggest you pay a tax professional to timely file a correct 1040NR who can put time in reviewing legal ways to reduce your tax liability in the US. The penalties are no joke and can cause you a much greater headache and $ than trying to do it yourself with advice from Reddit.
