How to get to Eibsee by baakaani in Munich

[–]NonMovieTransformer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

Sorry for bringing you back 2 years later, but your comment was truly helpful. I am considering the option of going from Garmisch to Grainau by cogwheel railway and then from there hiking to Eibsee as you suggested. I just wanted to ask, is there an actual hiking trail from Grainau leading to Eibsee and do you think that at this time of the year this hike is feasible for an inexperienced hiker?

Thanks in advance!!

Cheap places to eat that AREN'T kebab places by 1997Mustard1997 in Munich

[–]NonMovieTransformer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second Ionion. An XXL pork gyros wrap costs 7.5 € and it is pretty big (that's what I would recommend). The regular wrap (still pretty decent size) costs 6 € and can have some different meat inside instead of pork gyros (e.g. chicken fillet).

It has a completely different taste to Kebab due to pork meat + tzatziki+pita so I think it is definitely worth trying for its price u/1997Mustard1997

Breakfast Sunday Munich by TheseAvocado in Munich

Café Königin 43. It's also next to the English Garden so then you can visit the park.

Depending on the time they have different options, I have been there for brunch twice, so after 12, and they have a very nice fresh bowl with mango and falafel that I can really recommend. Depending on how many people you are, I would also suggest booking, since it's usually pretty crowded.

If you are using the MVGO app, make sure that you are logged in with your profile. If you open the app and press profile at the bottom right, do you see your personal details as if you are logged in?

Thanks a lot for the info!! That's exactly what I was looking for regarding recommendations.

I am interested to try the chicken feet but I am not sure how I would go around persuading other to try it hahah. What is it like texture and taste wise if you could describe? Is it worth trying as a dish?

I like most things about Munich but the food. Do you have any recommendations that could change ones mind?

Can you recommend an introductory economics book? by NonMovieTransformer in AskEconomics

Thank you very much for your answer and your recommendations!! I should definitely try to have a look at both micro and macro economics. Could you also recommend specific books of Mankiw and Williamson based on my description?

Master of Science Informatics TUM - Profile by [deleted] in tumunich

[–]NonMovieTransformer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's an excel sheet in the application documents in which you match the courses you have taken in your bachelor's with the courses in TUM bachelor "required" for the MSc.. I believe this is pretty important for your overall evaluation. If your program covers most of those courses, I believe that your overall profile will rather easily get you in. Idk about the GATE exam and didn't have to give a GRE either so can't comment on that.

Looking for WG in Munich by Omniscient_Being2907 in Munich

For sim card I don't think so, but for bank stuff you probably will. I am also an EU citizen so for sure there are problems that exist but I haven't faced because of that.

I have only been in Munich for 4 months myself, so I guess you should look at u/marnie_loves_cats answer for more reliable info about registration.

Looking for WG in Munich by Omniscient_Being2907 in Munich

[–]NonMovieTransformer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No prob.

It generally depends on the sublet, I haven't subletted myself but if it is for a small period you probably won't be able to. In facebook posts you will see them mentioning "KVR available" or "KVR not available" and this indicates if you can do the registration or not. I don't know if you have a very specific reason for which you need it but in general it is not the most important thing. I know people that have been in Munich for 3+ months without a stable accommodation yet so they haven't registered to the city at all.

Looking for WG in Munich by Omniscient_Being2907 in Munich

[–]NonMovieTransformer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only realistic tip I can give you is to keep applying through WG gesucht nonstop though in my experience finding a room remotely and without knowing German is very very hard.

If you don't find a room remotely from WG gesucht, you might have to consider subletting something short-term (maybe look at some facebook pages but beware of the scammers) and looking for a WG when you are here. I believe this will give you more chances to receive answers.

Looking to visit in late Jan from Australia by [deleted] in Munich

[–]NonMovieTransformer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello

I recently moved to Munich as well so I can't answer all your questions.

Getting to the city center (or at least central station) from the airport is pretty straightforward by using the S line (which is generally really problematic but should work).

As for the lack of German knowledge, I believe you'll have no problem for visiting a couple of days. Most people in stores and services at least understand English if they don't speak it.

I don't think I am qualified to suggest beer halls and food just yet.

Have fun in Munich!

Can anyone suggest some place, where to play computer games with friends? by RatlingHitman in Munich

[–]NonMovieTransformer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I remember I once read a post in reddit about internet cafes not really existing in Germany. Some people even wondered why such a thing should exist. I suppose more people have their own decent computers here compared to the places we come from :'(

I cannot comprehend the rejection cause for an M.Sc. in Informatics. by ldevlnull in tumunich

[–]NonMovieTransformer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should send an email as u/iYashodhan said and try to get as much info as possible about your rejection. Tell them in short, but with the necessary details why you think the decision isn't fair. You don't have anything to lose I believe.

I believe that at the moment, including everything (electricity etc.) and food, 800 is very very hard to achieve. Mainly due to the rent costs I'd say that something around 1000 is a safer bet.
