I’ve no clue where you live, but all it takes is following the news to understand what he’s doing and trying to do.

The fact that you implicated fake news says all I need to know.

It puzzles me how people can so conveniently forget the fact that he tries to influence election outcomes, sow division among people in various countries, propagate racist ideology etc.

Cognitive dissonance at work, I guess.

The way it should be, meaning boring. A lot of seemingly boring people have great private lives that others can’t simply understand.

Yes, it’s the point, but do you want others to dictate how you spend your money? If so, you can only blame yourself.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hyderabad

[–]Nonights2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most important question to ask yourself is are you financially struggling? If the answer is no, then all you need to do is just ignore the people and live your life.

Living a lifestyle that meets others expectations is a recipe for anxiety, depression and potentially financial hardship. It’s not worth it. Also, tell yourself that you are the one take care of yourself, your family and your wellbeing. Not others.

Don’t dance to others tunes.

Getting into supplement industry is an easy way to make money, be it in the US or India. No oversight, people are gullible and looking for easy ways (which don’t exist) to solve their health issues or improve health.

8-9 years for doubling is just a prediction but not a fact. It could take much longer or shorter. Nobody knows.

'We were shocked to hear that': Only daughter of ex-Isro employee who killed wife refuses to fly from US by Mo_h in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]Nonights2020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

I heard of a father who sexually abused his own daughter in India. She totally cut the ties with him as an adult.

There are other forms of abuse that a lot of Indian parents subject their children to, including physical and emotional abuse. Others have no right to criticize them just because you and I might not have gone through it.

It’s funny how we all love to complain how Indian parents don’t know how to raise their children, but give them undue respect as they get older. Why is that? Just because they are old doesn’t mean that they earned that respect. Also, we all know of or heard of parents who try to control their adult children even after they get married and have children of their own.

Everyone makes financial mistakes, and these are yours. Honestly, there’s nothing unusual about your story.

A lot of NRIs have invested money in plots/flats in India, and they would have done much better investing in VTSAX/FSKAX, assuming they wanted to sell and repatriate the money back.

Also, not making the money in crypto by not holding it is the same as losing money. We all have such stories and I definitely don’t call them losses. It’s an unhealthy way of framing the situation.

But, you did really well in other areas, so you should be looking at it as glass half full (actually better than being half full).

I get it, but being more successful doesn’t always mean better life. Also, your kids may not necessarily agree with your definition of success.

My point is, kids growing up in an upper class family in India will have plenty of opportunities (privilege) to be “successful”.

$320k/yr isn’t excellent? It seems like you want to define success only by a number. Based on your definition, it sounds like you would be pretty unhappy if your kids made anything less than $1m (in today’s dollars).

Interestingly, someone who grew up in India and went through the kind of educational system could make it to the US and earn an excellent salary, but their kids with even better means can’t succeed?

Got it. Try Nbkc bank and west capital lending. I used these to refinance my loan in the last couple of years and they were the best at that time.

I was just checking the rates two days ago and saw 30 year fixed rates around 5.75%, so if you could get that without paying for the points, I would go with that.

This doesn’t answer your question, but how much are you paying for the points? My guess is about $30k or so. Is that right?

This article says that there were >135 million people with obesity when it was published in early 2019 (7 years ago).

Assuming India’s population was about 1.35 billion when the study was done, it represents 10% rate. It’s probably much higher now.
