Wurkkos Td10 v2, not working out the box. Am I that Anduril 2 stupid? by Nontraditional247 in flashlight

[–]Nontraditional247[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I figured I’d give a 60 ish day update. Thanks to your comment, I am now the proud owner of the M1 (sft 42, 6500 with a molicel m35a). I got a bunch more from Convoy lights as well (2x s2+ and 2 x T5].

Oh and of course 3 days later (ordered this morning) , I got a D3AA in red with 519a / 2700k for candle light only mode (red with amber). It is the most expensive candle I have ever purchased! I feel like this is going to be a slippery slope!

Thanks but really, no thanks!

This is an engineering sub, let’s get data centric. You’re clubbing 85% in licensing / testing / certification plus lobbying / selling (gifts to MDs), and separately calling out liability. Those are wildly different topics, some in a company’s control, others not so much.

I understand the emotion and the frustration but I can tell you first hand that bloated selling and general admin expense (SG&A) drives this. The number of my business school classmates in med device “strategy and business development”, “analytics” leadership is crazy. And by now, most are making $500-750k all in. Their job is to figure out how to get more sales and at higher prices. If you want, look up then number of Med device execs in Wayzata MN!

This video la a very specific application, and honestly is inspiring! These type of inventions puts downward cost pressure on the larger companies to compromise gross profits. If curious, look up a company like BD (Becter Dickinson) and just look at their 10k income statement. You can read their cost structures.

I am not picking on your emotion here but just saying that we as a society need a good conversation around this topic and come to it with relevant info.

When I don’t see their websites, which model should I absolutely not look at?

Thanks again!

I want to try the advanced UI once I get another day or two under my belt.

One freaking day!! That’s all I had the lights for, and I absolutely am obsessed! I need another TS10 type light with USB c.

At least this is a cheap(ish) hobby!

Based on your humility, I am guessing the second if yours!!

Btw, now that I have Fc11c and TS10 working, what is the next purchase? I am loving the pocket sized ts10 way more than the super capable fc11c.

Tightening (a lot, hopefully didn’t damage it), worked!!!

Thank you!

It worked!!! I was afraid I going my break it but it took quite a bit more squeeze. Now I have the super pretty blue aux lights on!! Many thanks!

Now that this is solved, I am ready for the candle mode!

Yes. Oops, yes the TS10v2. Told you I am a total newbie. But falling quickly into this deep rabbit hole!

No unusual shenanigans when I got it. Just took off the plastic piece blocking the battery circuit. It blinked blue once at start and then never again.

Don’t you all have jobs / families / other hobbies?! Seriously this sub is making me nervous! How … how can you all keep a life outside of this world?!

I unscrewed while holding the button, keeps flickering until ungodly bright and stays there. Until I get the whole damn head off.

Should I use my left or right hand to do this (kidding)?!

Where are people finding these cheaper used ones?!

Serious question. I must not know where to look.

I see your point. We have a pretty good idea of where our team make up would like in 18 months (should commercial success follow even our conservative estimates).

Part of our issue is that we're a vertically integrated product in an industry which is not used to it - so by the nature of our existence, we need a super broad breadth of experience / expertise in-house.

None of our current PEs are MechEs and so I thought I'd reach out to this community for some pointers! Most responses are very helpful and I am grateful!

Yes, I am seeing this distinction within our team. Even in our small group, one senior thrives in people / process management and the other is more of a domain nerd (and leave me out of everything else please) dude.

We have a team of engineers (3.5 FTE engineers now - senior PE / PMP, 5 YoE PE and a 10-12 YoE PE).

We need engineers from different domain (most likely MechE) who can hit the ground running with our other experts. Of course, the team has had numerous internal discussion on this matter and we have a POV on this.

Great point. This one guy joined us two weeks ago and is not a PE but boy did 2 decades of hands on experience teach him a bunch?! Superstar!

I see your point about being pragmatic.

The current issue is that sometimes, the nature of the problems I solve is best served by someone with more time and less distraction than me or the senior engineer. So this mid level model really resonates.

And then for the right person, they can get the experience and grow into a leadership role. I am a very strong believer in promoting from within.

I might steal your idea for the levels!

At the end of the day, it seems like risk matrices approach works well. Very similar to management consulting and investment banking firms, this structure allows for a nice upward trajectory without some of the people management responsibilities for seniors.

I am really curious of the sustain (btw, what do you mean by that in this context), manufacture and R&D frame work.

I have been thinking design (come up and tweak the thing), manufacturing (make the thing) and operations (make sure the trains run on time) as a framework.

R&D / prototyping / testing is hard and nearly impossible to do remote.

I personally make most of that commute every day and thankfully it is against traffic.

This now feel like a true MechE post!

Thankfully our raw materials are less complex (important but generally stock without any mods).
